Pathfinder 1E The Escape Route feat in mounted combat

The DM just ruled that "Escape Route" will not work for movement where the creature using it to avoid provoking AoO's by moving *intends to attack later in the round at the time of the movement* . . . in other words, they're not currently intending to "escape." Sub-optimal, but I see the point.

Pathfinder 1E Disengaging Flourish: Does this work?

The DM just ruled that "Escape Route" will not work for movement where the PC *intends to attack later in the round at the time of the movement* . . . in other words, they're not currently intending to escape. Sub-optimal, but I see the point.

Pathfinder 1E Disengaging Flourish: Does this work?

Oops! The opening post's edited for clarity --- I mixed up "Disengaging Feint" with "Disengaging Flourish", and I also tried to clarify other stuff here & there. Maybe I'll get to put this to the test in the next game...

Pathfinder 1E Disengaging Flourish: Does this work?

OK, this is written from the PoV of a mid-level (10th or so) single-classed human cavalier with a regular horse mount. I'm just checking to see if the feats work this way. I have a feat called "Audacity" which allows me to calculate my AoO's/round using Cha instead of Dex. For the purposes of...

Pathfinder 1E The Escape Route feat in mounted combat

That reminds me... I should've posted a link! No wonder it took so long for someone to reply! Sorry bout that... Anyway, whenever the Escape Route feat is shared (or possessed) by any two creatures occupying the same square who move together, don't they enjoy an (arguably overpowered) immunity...

    Mounted Combat - Useful?

Argh... Just noticed how old this thread is! Sorry about the unintended necromancy, everyone!

    Mounted Combat or Dismounted Combat?

It is. You just need a "move-attack-and-move again" feat. For infantry melee, it's Spring Attack. For ranged attackers, it's Shot On The Run. For cavalry melee, it's Ride-By Attack.

Pathfinder 1E The Escape Route feat in mounted combat

Tactical feats can be shared with one's mount through the Tactician ability of the cavalier (or the fighter tactician build, and probably some other ways I haven't thought of). It seems that sharing Escape Route with one's mount would make both mount and rider able to gallop through some heavy...

Pathfinder 1E Lance from horseback up close & personal

I apologize, my comment you quoted was a reaction to the phrase "20 years ago". I certainly didn't mean to imply that you didn't know what you're doing. Sorry about that. I edited out the link because the forum rules seem to prohibit me from posting them until I've posted a few more times. . ...

Pathfinder 1E Lance from horseback up close & personal

It sure is . . . especially without the fighter-class bonus feats! I'm tempted to multi-class into 3 or 4 fighter levels, but I'd hate to slow down the mount's progression of feats and ability scores! I'm playing in a setting sort of like 1700AD. . . I'd love to try Greyhawk someday.

Pathfinder 1E Lance from horseback up close & personal

Not the answer I wanted to hear of course :) but your explanation makes a lot of sense: you "take on the space of the mount with your reach". Terrible news for riders of mounts of bigger than Large size! Here's another situation I'd like your thoughts on: Whirlwind Attack allows you one attack...

Pathfinder 1E Lance from horseback up close & personal

In a way, that's the idea though . . . given feats like Trick Riding and Indomitable Mount, where the rider gets two Ride checks per round to prevent hits (ranged or melee) plus one Ride check per round to replace a save the mount has to make . . . well, the mid-level cavalier gives the enemy an...

Pathfinder 1E Lance from horseback up close & personal

Hmm . . . I don't remember the RAW ever implying that lances are for charges only. . . is that a house rule?

Pathfinder 1E Lance from horseback up close & personal

I understand how the lance, though a two-handed weapon, can be used one-handed from a mount; and how charging works. But most mounts are Large (occupying 4 spaces on the map). As I remember it, the rider (even if Medium size) also effectively occupies the same 4 spaces (and is vulnerable to...

    Charisma and Intimidate

Is Intimidate truly worth all this fuss, though? The skill's not that useful. I didn't just look it up, but if you're talking a -2 negative modifier for being shaken . . . frankly, I think it becomes a sort of "dump skill". And rogues and bards are one thing, but fighters and barbs don't have...
