What about it switches back after the initial saving throw?

What if they still roll the saving throw like hold person does and they don’t auto fail the save?

You get only one save change per long rest. Is it really that powerful?

Here’s a simple way to fix it, you can change the damage type of a spells equal to your intelligence modifier. Make sense? This would limit it to 5 spells at max.
