+1 Manifester Level Progression When There Ain't

Infinite_Kydeem

First Post
Say I'm a Soulknife and have a few levels of the War Mind prestige class. Then I start taking the Thrall Herd prestige class. I will eventually get to the point where the +1 manifester level progression will indicate 11 or more manifester levels of the War Mind manifester progression. However, there are only 10 levels of War Mind manifester levels.

What happens then?

{Also, same thing can come up with spellcasting levels.)

I think you can gain >10 manifester levels, but you don't gain more base power points per day or powers known.

I would tend to agree. Be sure to pick up Practiced Manifester too, for more power with what you know.

You might want to pick up onelevel of Psychic warrior or soemthing first, to make use ofthe thrallherd manifesting boost.

Must be a Kalastar right?

It is the only way to get Mindlink so that you can qualify for Thrall Herd.

It is not on the War Mind's power list and Soulknives are not manifesters.

If so, I would suggest going SK/psion instead. Psion is the favored class for Kalashtar. Also use the racial substitution levels from Races of Eberron, especially for SK.

The Atavist Pr Cl from the same book is a far better choice for someone who is focusing on mind blade combat, IMO.

I would also try to get the DM to allow using the Practiced Mind Blade feat from Dragon mag (I can't remember the number right now).

Nope, group will probably all be Meanad's.

Take expanded knowledge to get Mind Link.

Playing in Kalamar not Eberron. Besides, don't have the book.

This is not a character that I will probably be playing, just something that came up when we were going over some possible character builds.

maybe I am missing something here, and I'm not the psionics expert, but wouldn't the +1 manifester per level apply to the Soulknife levels?

Soulknife has psionic abilities but does not manifest psionic powers so has no manifester levels.

Untapped Potential has an optional rule to allow +1 MLs to count to SK levels as well as manifester levels :)

That being said, your ML would go up beyond 10, but you wouldn't get any new powers / points / max power level known... at least, not pre-epic and not without your DM allowing an epic progression for the warmind.

Your effective Manifester Level would continue to progress for the purpose of determining ML-dependent variables, but that's about it.
