$100 PDF!! Are they nuts!!??

Obviously because they're too thick in the head to realize they'd probably be able to sell a boatload of PDFs if the blasted thing was reasonably priced.

Unlike Army of Darkness, I won't be at all surprised Game of Thrones appears on p2p inside the next few days, nor would I be surprised if 3/4 of the people who have gone into sticker shock from that PDF price have already checked for it.

I doubt you'll see it on a p2p service anytime soon. At least, not that particular PDF. After all, the person who puts it on there would have to pay the $100, and few people have that much money to blow or that little intelligence.

More likely, you'll see a scanned PDF in a few months after everyone gives up hope on someone posting the $100 PDF.

Had they just offered it for $10 or so, they would have had some sales, and thus a little money in their pockets. At $100, I doubt they'll sell more than one....ever.

But then again, if one of the book owners gets it for free...*shrug*...who knows.

Wow, people jump the gun much :D

This 100$ PDF is not meant for sale. But GoO needed someone to host it so they could send it out to the people who pre ordered. GoO's own servers would get killed with a lot of people downloaded this thing. So, they put it up on drivethrough and then mailed out coupon codes to everyone that gets it for free. This PDF is not meant for sale so they stuck a price on it to ensuire that.

And this is old news, even.

Uh...why? :\

I also did not like their Tri Stat system, so now they have hundred dollar 'deluxe' PDF I am supposed to say 'that's the ticket!'?

I do not think so. It is a PDF - there is no real way to make it 'deluxe'.
I disliked it when I saw Fantasy Flight and WotC charging full price for PDFs, and this takes it to a whole new level.

I have not said anything against the similarly priced Worl Largest Dungeon or Ptolus - I am not likely to buy them, but a lot of work went into them, and tey either are, or will be, physically impressive. Not so for a PDF. (And I do like the PDF format.)

In case you are wondering - it is not a great loss for GoO, I have not made any purchases from them in the past, so they are not losing anything to speak of. (Zero minus zero is still zero...) All it means is that I will not waste my time looking. The last time I bothered was with Silver Age Sentinels, which I did not like at all, at all. (Compared to Godlike or Mutants & Masterminds both.) So really I am just acknowledging that I am not, and never will be, their target audience.

No, you are suipposed to realize it isn't for sale. It is meant for a way that they can give a PDF to all the people that ordered the book. THey had to put a price on it though, so Mark figured 100 bucks and no one would buy it, becasue he's not looking for people to buy that version since it is meant for a bonus for the customers that bought the special edition.

So I noticed here that DriveThru and GoO are offering a PDF of the Game of Thrones Deluxe edition for $99.99. I don't know if this has been covered before...but holy mother of....who would buy such a thing?

My opinion? Yes, they're nuts. I wouldn't pay that for hardcover, never mind a pdf file that's gonna hit the "pirate waves" in short order... :\

Then they should have arranged another way to make the download. This is a sloppy way of handling it. Or they could have charged the same amount as the hardcover, and given it away 'free' with the PDF purchase... :p

As I said, I have not purchased from them in the past, this just pushed them into the 'do not bother' bin.

There really aren't many companies in my personal DNB bin...
