1000 Games!

I've heard that some guy (name was something like dolphin with nonstandard capitalization) had a campaign that went into high epic (IIRC, there were some level 60 PCs). Does anyone know how many sessions that took?

Our weekly gaming group will be having our 1000th game this evening. And of the five playing characters in the current module two were founding characters from our first game way back in May 1982!

Wondering if there are any other groups out there with that level of longeviity?

Congrats! What level are the characters up to? And have the two founding characters been played the whole way through or has there been a cast of PC's played?

Congratulations to all of you - that's pretty incredible!

I still have characters going from the 90s. . . but the 80s? No way. '82.. that's nearly 25 years! Next year will be the big one eh?

And 1000th session. Yeesh. Nope, I can't even nearly match that. Um, was that 1000th for that campaign?

Well, I played with my group in Michigan for 25 years, before I moved to NC. We played every Friday for 25 years, so I guess that qualifies.

So, I know what a committment that was! Congrats! And Here's to hoping for Many More!

Yeah. What Olaf said. We need to know.
Any TPK's in that span? Have any of the PC's lived the entire time, without being raised/resurrected?

Wow! Long time. Congratulations.

Yup! My PC, Olivia, started out as a Basic D&D boxed set human fighter. Went through conversions to 1E AD&D, 2E AD&D, 3E, and now 3.5. Now a Fighter 11 / Paladin 7.

Each of the six current members of the group has from four to nine characters in the main campaign which they alternate from module to module with present levels from 3rd to 12th for single-class characters and a total of 5th to 17th for multi-class. The playing characters own an island that is around 12-miles in diameter as their home base, which makes it easy to switch characters off.

I find that it's a great feat that the campaign has lasted so long. But I'm extremely curious... have any of your PCs gotten frustrated at the apparently slow rate of levelling?

No, but several modules ended with the characters deciding not to complete the mission and teleporting away when it looked like it was heading in that direction. Remember the old Brett Maverick saying: "A coward dies a thousand deaths, a hero dies just one. A thousand to one odds sound pretty good to me."

Yes, my extremely cautious brother's cleric Timothy has never died. Of the other founding characters still with us my wife's druid Serita has died once and my friend John's fighter Narg (the party leader) has died a couple of times. A party NPC Wizard Kharole (a former PC) from game one is also still around and accompanies the party on at least one module a year (when no other Wizard is going) and has never died.
