Orb of Clairtactilance (allows you to touch at a distance)
Hmm...if this mean it's possible to perform touch spells at range, then it could be a very nice item for healer clerics. It makes the curing spells a lot more powerful.

Not necessarily useless, but funny...

Schrödinger's Box: When a feline mammal is placed inside, Schrödinger's box may or may not poison it.

Heisenberg's Uncertain Arrows: Anyone observing Heisenberg's Uncertain Arrows can either discern their location or their velocity (50/50 chance), but not both. Anyone struck by Heisenburg's Uncertain Arrows is, thus, flat-footed against the attack.

Rods of Pythagoras: These two rods are connected at a 90 degree angle, and each telescopes between 3 inches and 4 feet. When the command word is spoken, a line of yellow light runs between the unconnected ends of the rod; the length of this line is always equal to the square root of the sum of the squares of the lengths of the Rods of Pythagoras.

How many of these magic items were gaffs at the gaming table? I mean...who hasn't mispronounced something during a late night gaming session and just decided to roll with it...

wand of wander...I'm looking at you.....

Even less useful, yet, seemingly ubiquitous: +1 dagger.

Surely you jest? The dagger's the best damn piece of adventuring equipment in the PHB. It's a melee weapon, it's a thrown weapon, it deals slashing or piercing, it's cheap, it's easy to hide, you can use it in a grapple, use it to pry things open, use it to weight down the end of a rope in a pinch... It's the bloody swiss army knife of... umm... knives. Every character I make, from level 1, is never without at least 3 daggers, whether it's a wizard or a barbarian. Heck, when you can afford 'em, carry around a silvered dagger, a cold iron dagger and an adamantine dagger!

Vorpal undead bane hand axe of smiting.

Ring of Generation. -Every time you get a nick or cut, a new limb or other appendage grows there.

Dust of Disturbance.

Steel Bristled Retina Brush (rusted).

Hilt-less Sword.

I didn't say a dagger was useless. My intent was that having a *magical* dagger was like getting a Christmas present, then opening it up and finding socks.

Yes, there are uses for a dagger. Most of the uses you describe (including the special materials) don't justify the additional 2000gp for making it magical. It just doesn't do enough damage for almost any PC to rely upon it as a primary weapon.
