12" Powerbook or 15" Powerbook

I'm debating which Powebook to get, either the 12" or the 15".

Both are going to have roughly 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD, and a Superdrive. The 15" will have the upgraded 128MB video card.

Any suggestions on what to get?

My Wife got the 15" powerbook and absolutely loves it.. she also thought that the 12" was way to small for her tastes and the 17" to large. with all the features you are getting with it.. it should last you a good long time.. My wife got the same features to it

Don't forget that the 15" has the backlighted keyboard, while the 12" does not. Not a huge feature, but still really cool.

While the size of the screen doesn't seem that much different, after a few months you will be glad you got the larger one.

I'm posting this from a 12" (heh - almost put 12' - I wish!) Powerbook. I've had it since Christmas, and really like it, but my old PB had a 14" screen and I'm still adjusting to the smaller one.

My Father-In-Law has a 15" and I really like the larger screen, but after getting used to my 12", his seems a bit unwieldy in size.

The main factor that decided me for the smaller one was that it is smaller and lighter with similar processing power. If you're not planning on lugging it around every day and/or travelling with it, then I'd go with the 15".

I haven't used the 12" PB, but I do use the 12" iBook. I don't have a problem with the size of the screen, though I wish the quality of the display were better, and I find the portability has made me happy I didn't get the 14". I often walk as far as a half mile with my laptop in my shoulder bag, and I like to carry smaller bags, so I like the smaller laptop.

I'm going to be taking it with me to school Mon-Fri, and walk a couple of blocks from the parking structure to the campus. Plus, I plan to be a "Laptop DM".

It does weight a little bit more then the 12" but I think you will like the display alot better.. and the overall quality of the monitor is much nicer IMHO. I think that you coulc handle a couple of blocks with this especially with a shoulder strap for the carry bag. .. Go with the 15"

I don't think you can go wrong either option, honestly!

I have the 12" Powerbook. I like the ultra-portability of it. Although I finally got an actual laptop bag, it's small enough that I could put it in my backpack when I needed to. The size of the screen doesn't bother me, but of course I'm used to it.

I can definitely see how the added power of the 15" would be nice to have, though. If you plan to play games on it, the 15" is probably better.
