Yep. The Olympic Peninsula is across Puget Sound from Seattle, WA and across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Victoria, BC.
Or am I thinking of a different village preserved underneath a mudslide in the upper NW US/SW Canada?
I would doubt it. :)

It has a truly excellent museum. I recall they were a bit cadgey about the metal artifacts. They did describe a controversy, but didn't go into too much detail.
