16 years, 400+ sessions, and the campaign is done!

I already congratulated you on your blog, but the portion quoted above. . . I am interested in hearing more about this. . .

Actually I am too. Not because I don't like 4e. But I'm interested in hearing what are seen as some of its weaknesses from a GM whose opinion I very much respect.

Just wanted to add my congrats!

I loved reading your story-hour as well. In fact it helped me design some really nasty baddies for my own campaigns, and inspired me to run things in a much broader sense than I had been doing previously.

My group can be pretty bad at switching around to new campaigns. I myself finally put my foot down and am writing only two (Hey, it used to be a grand total of six separate campaigns). Here's hoping I can have the games run even half as long as you did!

Congrats PC! Sounds like it ended just as it should have! And thank you so much for the various Story Hours over the years to let the rest of us in on the excellent campaign.

Not sure if my own weekly campaign will ever have a concluding game (we just had game #1065, concluding our 146th module) but if we do I hope it goes like your's did.

Congratulations!

That's quite the feat, if only 14 years longer than the most involved game I've ever run.

Mutants and Masterminds and 4e both (IME) lend themselves very well to campaign play, albeit in drastically different ways. You'll have a great time with either.

First thing that came to mind on reading this was I was only 11 when you started and had never even heard of rpg's.

That's an amazing feat, I've always wondered what it would be like to be part of such a long running game.

We just finished up my campaign, a little over 16 years from when we started it back in '92. It spanned three editions, but the characters progressed steadily and finished up at about lvl 23-24. It was the right time to stop - both story-wise and because the math was getting onerous - but our last game was great, with several PCs giving their life to save everything they held dear and other PCs getting to live because of their sacrifice.

When it was over, we just sort of sat there for a few minutes. Feels weird. I think we'll hold one more session where we have dinner and everyone can ask me any question they can think of.

Ask the group if that can be recorded.
