I've chosen none of the above. Seriously, I believe it will be something mildly surprising, slightly noteworthy, but in the end not so consequential.

4th edition would be exiting (mostly in a positive sense), but I don't believe it.

They are providing further details on their Digital Initiative and Gleemax projects, the cancellation of the magazines, etc. Hopefully we will get some solid details on what the planned content (articles and online tools) are going to be. The pricing plan options avialable are also very important.

4th edition will be announced at their own convention, WOTC run D&D Experience. Which they have said many times is where they make their big annoucements. Though IMO it wouldn't happen until 2010-2011.

This is actually what I meant when I selected option #2 above (content will come in online Dungeon and Dragon).

The way its phrased makes it sound like most D&D content released from now on would be released only online, which I think is a long, long ways from happening. That might have been what the OP meant, but its not what he said.

Aha. Then I would have chosen that alternative. And not the one I did. Well, these things happen. :D

I am not sure what the OP meant... I guess I assumed that he meant a big announcement about the DI.

We know they will say something on DI. They have told us that.

The question is asking if they will anounce that most D&D content will be provided in an online, subscription based format, and significantly less through books.

Just to clarify...

As discussed in other threads, WotC has announced releases through early 2008, and they are pretty limited and "rules light". They have practically no player oriented books and Rules Compendium is the only one I would describe as "general interest". There is not a PHB II, DMG II, spell compendium, or even Book of Nine Swords or Magic of Incarnum in sight.

Hence the question. Are they just winding down, releasing a new edition, moving content online, taking a break, or something else?
