1st level human wizard feats....any idea?

Question

First Post
Im making a 1st level human wizard in a campaign using the spell points system. Any ideas for starting feats? Most of it will take place in an underground dungeon. Normally i would have the feats planned out depending on the PRC, but i cant think of any except archmage.

Skill focus (concentration) seems a bad choice to me- you'd be better off just staying out of the way of enemies... maybe improved initiative?

I'm also a big fan of the spell focus (conj) followed by augment summoning feats (if you plan on using summoned creatures, it's an awesome feat).... dosnwisde of course being so few conj. spells have a save.

Mayhaps some of the ranged feats tree, start with point blank shot and go for precise shot. You're going to run out of spells early with a 1st level wizard, and you'll be able to use your crossbow to good effect... decent damage- and you feel like you're contributing to battle once your magic missile is gone. This tree also helps if you plan on using attack roll spells (the orbs, scorching ray, etc)

The lucky spell feat.....there doesnt seem to be a downside to it. It seems once you get the feat all damage spells you prepare are now lucky spells.

For wizards I find it hard to point out any useful feats without knowing more about the character, as much depends on that.

For example, Spell Focus is a decent feat, if you are into the right kind of spells. Improved Initiative can be good. Some metamagic feats are surely nice. Augment Summoning is rarely wrong, if you go the summoning route. In some cases, Point Blank Shot and Precise Shot might be very good choices even.

I expect i will be preparing color spray/mage armor every day. I can cast up to 3 level 1 spells per day, any combination. Im probably taking improved init and spell focus(conjuration), then spell focus(evocation) at 5th level or such.

spell focus is a general feat and can't be taken with a wizard's bonus feats (only meta magic or item creation feats or spell mastery).

Improved Initiative, always. Especially if your human as your bonus feat. For the rest? Hmmp, precise shot for rays is nice but you can easily do without (as im currently doing in a game or 2 im playing in).

Improved counterspell, reactive counterspell, spell penetration, a spellfocus maybe or offcourse a proper regional feat from FR if your playing that like Spellcasting prodigy or Fearless. Blooded+ Impr innit is nice to, +6 init total without dex on level one.

Personally if your not going for a class or PRC that requires you to have reactive counterspell Id aim for Impr innit and Spellcasting prodigy (yes even the 3.5 one) at level one. (Fearless just ownz but I hate such lame immunizing feats... but thats me).
