2004 ENnies nominations are in!

Well, that was fun

You can find this year's nominations on the news page. Congratulations to those nominated, and to those who managed to earn an honorable mention.

Although I wasn't involved in the judging process, the judges tell me (those who have judges in previous years) that this was the hardest year to judge yet. Not only were entries up by 40% from last year, but the quality of products was higher across the board, making for much closer calls.

Voting will being in a couple of days, so, publishers, please make sure that you make your fans aware!

Will this be going up on the ENnnies 2004 page as well? I went there first when I saw that the winners were posted but realized that you meant the main page.

It is a great list and good luck to all the competitors. Now that the list has been unfurled, do you think that it is possible to take a sneak peek at the judges’ forum (a judges’ forum was mentioned in another thread)? It would be fun and provide an insight to the behind the scenes of the ENnies - like being a fly on the wall during the Oscars nominations committee.

Speaking for Atlas, we're truly honored by the nominations we received this year, and we look forward to the awards ceremony in Indy!

This, IMO, is not a good idea. At least, not access to the raw conversations the judges had between themselves. I know if I were a judge, and the public saw some comments about product X that were less that stellar, I wouldn't want to be slammed later for doing what I saw as my job.

Now, general comments on what the judges thought (names redacted out and then summarized to take away writing styles), that would, IMO, be beneficial. This way, the publishers could see the plusses/minuses that were seen and improve.

That sounds like a great idea - a little more streamlined then what I previously said - however, I do understand and agree with your point.

I agree with the first paragraph.

On the second, I wanted to do something like an edited bloog so that people could see some of the ideas that each of the judges were bringing to the judging table. I thought that a weekly updated bloog would help generate and keep interest on it. I think it would've been too much work this year.

No.

Precisely.

Judging is all about being critical. Some people don't take criticism too well, and that's bad blood we don't need.
