2006 ENnies discussion

I hate to post something off topic in this thread but I'm not sure my e-mails are reaching you, Dextra. Did you get the 2005 ENnies video I sent to you?

Darn, I thought I'd replied- yes I did, thank you! Watched it, now am looking into someone to help edit it. I understand what you said about the limitations of the medium, but still think you did a brilliant job.

I won't take up any more space in this thread about it. Shoot me an e-mail when you get a chance.

The past conversations I've had with T-Bill and Crothian convinced me not to volunteer as a candidate for ENnies Judge last year. The sheer volume of time required to provide a worthwhile effort on behalf of the community, the publishers, and the awards themselves is astounding, and I simply did not have that kind of time last year.

This year I not only have a more flexible work schedule, but several other factors have convinced me to give it another go round:
1) The earlier selection process + direct publisher shipping = an increase in time for product evaluation.
2) I've got a chunk of vacation and personal time stockpiled (using Crothian's model for crunch time).
3) I've assumed different, somewhat less demanding, roles within other local organizations so that I have more time than ever to devote to EN World and gaming in general.

FWIW, I think that everyone associated with the ENnies has done a fantastic job throughout the years, and the continued adjustments made to enhance the process only reaffirm your collective dedication and sincerity. I hope that I'm fortunate enough to be among the five chosen Judges this year! BTW...thanks for the kind words of support JD and Jaws.

I'll be running again this year too. As much work as it is, and as much time as it may take, all of the judges I've talked to have said it has been a worthwhile experience. I love gaming, and I'm always looking to expand my horizons. I think I'd bring a unique perspective to the judging table.

Go go estrogen powers!

I'm glad to see a woman throw her hat into the ring- a little diversity goes a long way!

Good to see you throw your hat in Quickbeam. :)

Thank you very much. Hopefully I will have the privilege of joining you on the panel this year!

I've got Irish, German, Russian, Korean, Native American, Anglo and Canadian ancestry along with being raised by divorced parents who observed two distinctly different faiths (Judaism and Catholicism). Does that qualify as a little diversity? ;)
All kidding aside though, I agree. Adding some new, different perspectives to the panel will likely help keep the entire process fresh.

Best of luck to everyone who is running! It's nice to see some new people stepping up to the plate this year (and those who are returning as well). It'll make for an exciting voting period this year!

And all wrapped up in a single package. ;)
