2006 New Years Resolution Thread

I've been drinking a lot this past year, which has led me to pack on 25 unwanted pounds.

So I'm going to cut back on food.
Ok -- now that's funny. You might want to consider that you can meet 100% of your nutritional and recreational needs on a diet of nothing but Guinness and sushi.

Paying off my debts, which means almost no gift buying for many people.

But the expenses have dragged on long enough.

I have two outstanding loans to take care of, after I am FREE of any further debt.

Two:

1. Take better mini photos - really work at it.

2. Bench over 500 lbs. I've been close, but I never quite get there. One last shot before the four-oh.

1. Getting out of debt would be nice. Of course, this is contingent on cats not getting sick and cars not finding new ways to *not* work.

2. Get my green belt in karate. I haven't graded in over a year. Maybe it's turning 40, but after a long day of work, once I get home, I just have a lot of trouble leaving again.

3. Read one book At. A. Time.

4. Realizing that just because I'm not a millionaire, a hotshot fantasy author, or directing a Hollywood film, I'm still a somewhat worthwhile person.

5. Actually put on weight. I tend to forget to eat at times, and suddenly find myself weighing 125 lbs. If I can make 140, I'll be happy.

I'm going to stop bitching about this place so much and try to make it a little better.

Though I'll still call BS when it is applicable.

With all of the "Lose Weight", "Get in Shape" and Lose Weight + Get in Shape" vows, we need to have a...

Biggest Loser: EN World Edition

Complete with prizes and final weigh-in at GENCON 2006, of course ;)!

Let's see, for 2006, Old One vows to:

(1) Get in (better) shape and lose weight - Damn, am I original or what?

It's not that I am in bad shape (resting HR of 52, 1 hour+ of high-level cardio 3-5x per week & free weights 2-3x per week), but I definitely fall into the "fit, but fat" category...lugging around 30+ lbs I really don't need (I should buy stock in Ben and Jerry's :p). I just registered to do another 10-mile run in the spring (Cherry Blossom 10-miler) and I may shoot for a Half-Marathon in the fall. I figure for every 10 lbs I lose, my per mile pace improves by 30 seconds ;)!

(2) Get out of debt - Since we decided the Mrs. would stay at home with the Little Old Ones about 15 months ago, we have had consumer debt creep up to a higher level than we feel comfortable with. We plan on paying off all non-housing debt (car, student loan, credit line) in 2006. Gonna mean some tight months, but the ultimate pay-off is worth it, since it will free up over $1,000/month in cash flow.

(3) Start gaming again - My gaming over the past 14 months has consisted of two (excellent) PbP games. No TT, no game days, no nuthin'...

Current plans include NC Game Days (at least one, hopefully more), TerpCon and, if the stars align, GENCON 2006. I am also working on both a NWN and Remote TT game for my old Charlotte, NC-based gaming group. With my current work/family obligation schedule - I don't think I can swing more...but I have to do something!

Resolutions:

1) Stop eating junk food. I think my weakening health and late digestive problems will enforce me to actually abide by this resolution.

2) Exercise. My back is now in bad shape, and I cannot but do something for it now. Will see for how much time I keep on with this resolution.

3) Become more responsible... :o :uhoh:
