2007 D&D Calendar Art Vote

I voted for "Complete Divine", because the rest were rather dark and somber-looking, which I'm sure plenty of which will make it into the calendar, but it also needs a splash of color and vibrance, too. Nothing but Darkwell and Tiamat-type drawings 12 months around would depress the heck out of me. :)

Tiamat was my vote - WAR's cinematic peices and vibrant colors make for good calandar. I'd like to see

Darkwell
By Jean Pierre Target

make it too though.

Many of the offered pieces are too dark ( Underdark), too bland based on colors ( frostwell ) too static (Ulitharid), too many small figures with no great focus ( Magic of Faerun ) or just not good enough ( underdark scout - frenzied beserker) to be good calendar photos IMO.

Frankly, some of the pictures are just to damned small ( or get smaller AFTER clicking on them! ) to see clearly enough to consider voting for.

Last: Whats up with the "Scarlet Corsair"? I bet she wears that choker to hide her Adams Apple!

Agreed! I like that a lot of the pieces tell a story, or could inspire (I remember getting a lot of ideas from the old FR calendar).

I just had to go with the classic image. Dragon with Hoard. It just screams 'Dungeons and Dragons'.

Another vote for Darkwell here.

But unlike a lot of folks, I'm not a fan of Wayne Reynolds. His stuff just seems to ackward to me.

A 'Tiamat' vote here, though any of the Adam Rex images were a close second (especially the one with Sarya Dlardrageth on the cover. :o )

While these are all excellent pieces, I'm surprised at the selection. There is a lot of other stuff that I think should be in there. My vote went for Elminster's Daughter. Awesome piece.

Frostfell Mountains.

But I'd have voted for the cover of the Draconomicon in a heartbeat. Now where's that picture?

I would have, but since you did, I went with "Master of Chains" because sometimes D&D is that, too. I was careful, though, not to vote for "Scarlett Corsair" because while D&D is that, too, sometimes, I really don't think it's the image we should go out of our way to portray if we want to grow the hobby.
