2024 D&D Character Sheets Available to Download

dnd character sheets.jpg

The newly designed character sheets for Dungeons & Dragons are now available on D&D Beyond's website. The new sheets were created for use with the new 2024 revised 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons and were released as part of the early release launch of the 2024 Player's Handbook on D&D Beyond. Notably, the new character sheets are condensed from 3 pages to 2, contain attunement slots for magic items, and place various skill proficiency stats under their corresponding core ability score. Also, the new character sheet contains various technical updates, such as "Heroic Inspiration" replacing inspiration and "Species" replacing "Races." Please note that this is not a fillable PDF, so you'll have to print it and fill it out on your own.

This marks the first time since 2014 that D&D has updated its official character sheets, with print copies eventually going on sale in a couple of weeks. Also to come are several campaign tracker sheets that will be available as part of the to-be-released Dungeon Master's Guide.

Do you really need 60 though? Only Wizards can even use more than 40 or so at a maxium.

Seems overkill to me, personally, although you certainly could do it if you need the space for spells...

If you did, you would want something to denote prepared or not, as well.

I can try a full mock-up if you want tomorrow? Let me know.
Based on my list from up-thread, 40 should be good. That would mean shrinking the list height by 2/3 (2 narrower columns of 20 instead of the 1 wide column of 30), which would free up space for something else to be added. I'm just spitballing ideas here, I'm not expecting you to create a new sheet or anything. Unless you're really bored.

I actually am wishing someone would do the opposite of shrinking the equipment. My favorite part of the 2014 sheets were that the spell sheet and the sheet with additional boxes for equipment, traits, magic items, character traits/bonds/etc were on completely different sheets.

As someone who likes to play a lot of martial characters I hate that literally half of the second page is devoted to spells and that equipment and the other stuff is just relegated off to a little side column.

I also strongly dislike that they removed the traits/bonds/flaws stuff from the game. As someone who plays in a roleplaying focused group, I REALLY liked that the game actually incentivized people to roleplay characters and not just statblocks. It would be nice if we could have alternatives for a full page dedicated to spells and a full page dedicated to other stuff.

Also we're in need of a companion sheet, given so many subclasses, spells, and other class features that grant custom statblocks, it would be nice to have a sheet with the updated ruleset / style to match.

I was shooting for 40, and messing around with a two-column layout so I think that could work. I have time today before we play tonight so I'll probably mess around with some graphics and see what things look like.

I don't have the trial version of Acrobat anymore, so any revisions probably won't be form-fillable unless someone else wants to do it. When I can re-establish my trial version, I'll do it then.

Ideally, there should be a few different sheets focused on martials, half-casters, and full-casters.

I can easily add back things like appearance, traits/bonds/flaws.

Going to three pages would also allow for a custom statblock for a companion or sidekick maybe.

Run at the "Spell Sheet":

New Magic Page.png

There are 37 lines (I think?) for Prepared Spells, but also a separate box just for Cantrips. I figure between the Combat section on the front page and this box, you shouldn't need to put anything for cantrips under Prepared Spells.

Any feedback?

UPDATE: Spellsheet (3rd-page?).

Room for two spellcasting abilities if you are multiclassed or have feature spells.
Notes section for recording Sorcery Points or other additional information.
Two-column spell list layout with 30 slots per column for a total of 60 spells! Great for tracking two separate spell lists!

Note: this is NOT form-fillable.

Next project: I'll be working on a revised "back" page for the character sheet with room for extensive equipment / magic item list and (hopefully) a place for companion statblocks.

Looking great 👍

Huh. Looks like WotC quietly released an 'update' to the 'official' 2024 character sheets pdf, to be form-fillable after all (without telling anyone). Although they did choose to let the fields 'overflow' when the typed text is larger/more than the available space allows for (and the text is hidden behind the graphics), instead of 'shrinking' the font of the text when the available space is fully filled. Oh, well.

Looks really nice. Thanks for putting the time in and sharing out!

Just a thought.. for wizards, this is essentially the contents of their spell book. So you could perhaps exclude the word “Prepared” in the title of that section. The tick box on each line covers the question of which ones are prepared.

Might just eliminate a potential source of confusion for newer players?
