2024 D&D Character Sheets Available to Download

The newly designed character sheets for Dungeons & Dragons are now available on D&D Beyond's website. The new sheets were created for use with the new 2024 revised 5th edition of Dungeons & Dragons and were released as part of the early release launch of the 2024 Player's Handbook on D&D Beyond. Notably, the new character sheets are condensed from 3 pages to 2, contain attunement slots for magic items, and place various skill proficiency stats under their corresponding core ability score. Also, the new character sheet contains various technical updates, such as "Heroic Inspiration" replacing inspiration and "Species" replacing "Races." Please note that this is not a fillable PDF, so you'll have to print it and fill it out on your own.

This marks the first time since 2014 that D&D has updated its official character sheets, with print copies eventually going on sale in a couple of weeks. Also to come are several campaign tracker sheets that will be available as part of the to-be-released Dungeon Master's Guide.

Finally, here is an updated front-page.

A number of changes happened here. Notably is the addition of a Combat Features & Defenses, something I found lacking in the official sheet. I did lose one entry line from Weapons & Damage Cantrips, but 6 really felt uncessary IMO and IME 5 is sufficient for most players. I also moved Size and Speed to Species Traits. Finally, there is a place for Player Name at the end of the Character Name entry line for people who wanted it.

Tomorrow, I'll be making PDFs of these and posting them, but I doubt I will be able to make form-fillable ones for a while. Sorry.

Personally, I prefer the version with spells in one big list instead of separated by spell level. You never know when somebody might decide to prepare just a ton of 3rd level spells or whatever. Especially with multiclassing, sometimes you’ll have a lot of prepared spells but not the levels in any one caster class to prepare high-level spells for that class. One big list allows maximum flexibility, which is a plus in my book. Same reason I prefer skills not to be grouped under ability scores. The revised front page looks great (as always, I’d love a version with a spot for ability DCs), and the different second page variants look awesome!

I’d prefer more lines for weapons and damage Cantrips over the combat features and defenses box. Also, while I get the instinct to remove the “speed” box since everyone’s base speed is 30 now, there are a number of class features that increase speed. Maybe you could swap the Inspiration and Proficiency Bonus boxes, change Proficiency Bonus back to Speed, and add a small field to write in your proficiency bonus at the top right or left corner of the skill and tool proficiencies box.

EDIT: Actually, the more I look at it, the more I prefer the previous version of the front page. Having Proficiency Bonus in line with ability scores and proficiencies, and having weapon and armor proficiencies in the same place as skill and tool proficiencies are both touches I really appreciate.

Well, you have the prior variant of course, I just know if I have speed increases, it will go in combat features & defenses. Too many times defenses are more important IME and leaving them just lumped with class features means they get over looked.

Weapons and armor are afterthoughts. Once you know them, you don't need to access them often at all--if ever. I tried to keep everything on the front that you actually use semi-regularly.

But really, what are you putting in weapons and cantrips that need more than 5 lines???

I rarely see people swapping spells that often or having a big part taken up by a single spell level. With 12 lines for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, I think in practice that will satisfy most players.

However, both are available, so you can use the abbreviated 15-line on the back-page and then the massive two column list for the expanded.

Oddly enough, with the revised by-spell-level design, you actually have MORE lines for spells over all... 88 vs. just 60 (discounting cantrips). ;)

You have to first variant with those, but I could add them to the new one if you want??

Or mix and match the pages (front and back options) as you prefer. :)
I’ll probably stick with the previous version, as I think I prefer it overall. I appreciate the offer though!

And finally a (non-fillable) PDF with all six pages (front page, four back-page variants, and spell sheet).

Enjoy.
I finally got around to using these over the weekend, and I noticed that, in the Skills section, you have Perception (CHA) instead or Perception (WIS).

MAN!

I so wish you had pointed this out like TWO days ago. :(

I just spent the weekend updating the pdfs with better field names and have 8 different character sheet variants now.. all with the same mistake you just pointed out...

Sigh.

Thanks. It's an easy fix, but a pain in the but to recreate the variants now since I have to do it for each one.

Oof! Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. We just began converting our 2014 characters to 2024 this weekend because my daughter's friends hadn't been over in a while. I'll blame them (they're not here to defend themselves ;) ).
