D&D (2024) 2024 is out...and yet.....where are the threads?

Hasbro asked you restrict the percentage of a two-page spread in view.

Does it make sense to set the camera closer up, to only show about 50% of the view, then move the book around to focus on what you are commenting on?
They did so after I’d already recorded and posted the video. There were no such restrictions in our correspondence up to that point. The email with the restrictions happened Saturday. The original email with no such restrictions came the previous Saturday and the embargo was Thursday.

Wow. That's super unfortunate. I know you have decisions to make about your future relationship with WotC, but have you considered telling them to take a long walk off a short pier and just keeping your video as is?
I did consider that. In the end I felt like someone had made e a mistake and I didn’t want to deal with C&Ds being sent to Google or myself just so I could keep the original video up a couple of more days.

Boy, I've got news for you! 😉

Corporations will never be anything but self-serving. It's a shame because I think the design team are nice enough (even if that make some boneheaded decisions), but corporate will corporate.
I meant even more like jerks. It was one part just a mistake on their part not to ask us to avoid posting full pages but another part to try to enforce it after the fact knowing we had spent hours on these videos.

Do you know how many of your fellow content creators were affected by WoTC's critical fumble?

Unfortunately someone has already screen scraped one of the videos before it was taken down and their is a PDF out there. It was going to happen anyway I suppose due to the interest. I doubt it will seriously affect their sales though.

I am thinking more about the future. When you cover a particular topic, maybe you can video the relevant parts of the book in this closeup way.

In doing hundreds of reviews like this no other publisher has minded me flipping through their book. Most are very enthusiastic
I suspect that WotC would normally be very happy to have you flip through the book in the course of a deep dive. Which is why there were initially no restrictions. Unfortunately, there was a someone acting with either an abundance of bad faith, or the worst understanding of fair use, that ruined it for everyone.

it was about one specific video being taken down, not all reviews
I actually saw several Patreon creators start taking down their videos and putting them back up a few hours later the other day. I had no idea why, but this is a likely suspect.

I'm guessing they edited them to blur/text write any offending pages.
