The one called 2024 PHB Flip through doesn't - it's been switched to Private mode on Youtube.I just checked Morrus's thread collecting reviews and the first 5 video links worked.

That's hardly evidence of a suppression campaign. The one called 2024 PHB Flip through doesn't - it's been switched to Private mode on Youtube.
Who said it was? I'm just pointing out that, contrary to what was claimed, at least one video was indeed taken down. That's hardly evidence of a suppression campaign.
I wish there had been more substantial changes like getting rid of short rest, major changes to Warlock and more modularity between class advancement. Things that didn’t make it far in the revision process.I've been quite surprised the last few days. I mean the books are OUT! the info is live and official! I expected dozens and dozens of threads discussing every crumb, every nuance.
Instead....its like half a dozen threads, and there are tons of sections in the book not even being discussed. We have links to a few videos covering a lot of things from the influencers....but very little actually posted in the forum.
Where did the hype go?
He didn't say it was unethical, he said it was gatekeeping. And it is. Literally.No.
There's no reasonable understanding of ethics that requires a creator to give away copies to the specific people you want rather than those the creator wants.
Having a limited number of printings available at a special time isn't unethical either.
I'll review my Aquinas, Avicenna, Hobbs, Kant, Mill, etc. But I don't expect to find support for this position put forth here.
Stuff like this:Who said it was? I'm just pointing out that, contrary to what was claimed, at least one video was indeed taken down.
There are a couple other posts in this thread intimating that there's some conspiracy afoot.Yeah, it's pretty weird too. WoTC gives the DnD Shorts Guy a copy of their new 2024 PHB so that he can look at it and post a YouTube review of it on August 1st. Which he does so in great detail. Then the review goes private.
What was WoTC expecting the DnD Shorts Guy to do? Give praise to all of the 'good' stuff that's in the new PHB and hide all of the 'bad' stuff from everybody? They should have known better.

I wanted to check something specific (how many languages a character creation grants), so went to @SlyFlourish's YouTube to see if maybe, perhaps, he happened to have a page on screen that mentioned it.He didn't say it was unethical, he said it was gatekeeping. And it is. Literally.
it was about one specific video being taken down, not all reviewsI just checked Morrus's thread collecting reviews and the first 5 video links worked.

for me it basically spelled the end of my interest in it, I am mildly curious but I don't think it will be my game going forwardHowever I am still pretty excited for the new books
Thanks! tldr, conspiracy confirmed.I wanted to check something specific (how many languages a character creation grants), so went to SlyFlourish's YouTube to see if maybe, perhaps, he happened to have a page on screen that mentioned it.
Unfortunately, all the screens of his video were now blurred out. In his comments he wrote: "Hasbro's D&D Creator Team Relations emailed me with new rules saying we weren't able to show more than 75% of the page on a two-page spread because they're worried people will take screenshots and stitch them together into a book."
It is these "new rules" from Hasbro that were forcing the influencers to block the access to the 2024 Players Handbook. Earlier in this thread I was blaming some of the influencers for the gatekeeping. I apologize for my unfair assumption, and to DnD Shorts in particular who I mentioned by name.
Heh, now my assumption is, Hasbros historical aversion to digital documents is becoming self-defeating again.
WotC is the authorship of the 2024 Players Handbook, and it is their right to restrict access to their content to only "fair use". But obviously in context this is awkward, and people involved surprised by the lockdown.
Showing 75% of a two-page spread in screenshot seems clumsy but still useful.
