It wasn't actually item creation; it was use of a Wish Spell-Like Ability to create a magic item.

So Wish as an SLA to create a Ring of Unlimited Wishes has no XP cost.

I see. :) The usual problem with the general rule, that SLA/SuA have no components.

It should be obvious enough, that this does not apply to this use of Wish, but that's not the point, of course. :)

And they really should have added this to the "Calling" spells, too.

A summoned creature cannot use any innate summoning abilities it may have, and it refuses to cast any spells that would cost it XP, or to use any spell-like abilities that would cost XP if they were spells.

Or at least state, that - like with Planar Ally - a reasonable compensation has to be provided.

As far as I can tell, the use of a SLA Wish to create a 3 million gp magic item 'for free' is completely and utterly legal in 3.5.

Now, 'The Word', on the other hand, appears to me to be based on an invalid premise.

He's stated that the Ur-Priest's caster level is his Ur-Priest level plus half the sum of his other caster levels. As far as I can see, it's his Ur-Priest level plus half the sum of his levels in spellcasting classes. Completely different, and has no synergy with the Sublime Chord at all.

Instead of caster level 110 for divine spells, as he claims, I calculate caster level 18... plus one for an ioun stone. Not quite as scary for Blasphemy.

All random rolls are the average.
Starting range is random between 20-60 feet.

Your website has the roles listed. I highly recomend you use them as Avg rounded up, not avg rounded down as you do. The extra +1 for HP makes a HUGE difference (19 HP actualy).

Rnd Down: (As printed before by reanjr)
Wizard 20: Base 42 hp
Rogue 20: Base 63 hp
Cleric 20: Base 84 hp
Fighter 20: Base 105 hp
Barbarian 20: Base 126 hp

Rnd Up:
Wizard 20: Base 61 hp
Rogue 20: Base 82 hp
Cleric 20: Base 103 hp
Fighter 20: Base 124 hp
Barbarian 20: Base 145 hp

Also, do you have rules for Prep time? (I/E, how much time a player has to "buff" themselves?) Makes a big difference for the magic users.

There will be a random (1d4 -1) number of buff rounds. You will be able to see your opponent but not target him with any spells.

Why not just use the *actual* average (rounded up for even levels, rounded down for odd levels)?

Wizard: 51
Rogue: 72
Cleric: 93
Fighter: 114
Barbarian: 135

Slightly simpler. Nothing wrong with that way either. Rounding down is bad though. I think it penilizes the lower HP charicters more since they are losing a higher % of HP.

Of course, I agree with Thanee's first point. Inventing new magic items falls under the "Variant: New Magic Items" in the DMG. Just say "no rules variants".
