Hahaha, I just read something really funny in the rules.

PHB Page 295 "Knocking Creatures Unconscious"

If you attack a creature, that is already dying, and thus automatically knock him/her/it to 0 or fewer, and then choose to knock him/her/it unconscious, he/she/it is not dying, but rather unconscious then.


Yes, I know - of course - that it does not actually work that way.

Hmm, yeah... I thought the Divine challenge would be over by now but it seems you guys are right.

I'm used to Multi-Class feat powers being used for just one round. Sneak of Shadow only grants one sneak attack, Student of the Sword only +1 to one attack and marks for one round... Even Warrior of the wild, which by the original PHB printing looked like it could last the whole fight, was errataed so that it only lasted until the end of your next turn.

But the divine challenge from soldier of the faith... I never encountered that one on the rule forum and the current write up in the D&D compendium (always to be assumed to be up to date) quite obviously doesn't included a one round limit as it does for other MC feat where it could be ambiguous.

It is certain that Garrick met the requirement for the challenge to still be in effect so it seems you are right and the Skull indeed explodes.

Mirage has a freaking cloak of distortion! That's -5 to ranged attack from farther than 5 square.

No later than two round ago, when I opened fire on Mirage with both cultist while Nathan was in the ritual room, that little info would have meant that both attack missed. Looking back at the map, DC2, who had scored the hit, was more than 5 square away and in fact rolled 15, not a 20, which is a miss.

Thankfully I can retcon that without pain and give Mirage back his hp. Now imagine if it was Leyra who had a distortion cloak...
