Celebrate Forty-Five Years of Dungeons & Dragons and Five Years of D&D Fifth Edition with theD&D Sapphire Anniversary Dice Set

Only 1,974 sets - featuring a gnome-grown* sapphire gem - will be available to the public on November 21!

RENTON, WA – Nov. 11, 2019 – It’s been five years since Dungeons & Dragons fifth edition launched, and the explosion of D&D’s popularity since then has been a wonder to behold! Now fans can celebrate D&D through the D&D Sapphire Anniversary Dice Set, available directly from Wizards of the Coast starting at 11a.m. (PT) on November 21, 2019. The set commemorates both 5 years of 5e AND forty-five years since D&D’s first publication in 1974.

“When the D&D team realized the sapphire is the traditional anniversary stone for both five years and forty-five years, and that adding a laboratory-created sapphire to a twenty-sided die wouldn’t jeopardize the integrity of a roll, we couldn’t pass up the chance to make something really cool to celebrate the milestones” said Nathan Stewart, VP of the D&D Franchise at Wizards of the Coast. “The team put together a fun product for our fans that includes art and newly updated stats for sapphire dragons, making these classic dragons ready for play in your next D&D session.”

The D&D Sapphire Anniversary Dice Set includes eleven custom-designed aluminum dice from Level Up Dice. Embedded in one of the d20s is a sapphire lovingly grown** by a rock gnome artificer in a charmingly-cluttered workshop. Additionally, each set includes a high-quality dice box and a matching dice tray displaying the ampersand, fifth edition D&D stats and details introducing the sapphire dragon, commemorative stickers, and a sequentially numbered collector’s card confirming the set’s authenticity. Oh, and every die, except that extra-special d20 has an engraved ampersand on the highest number - boosting your D&D cred whenever you roll max damage with that trusty battleaxe!

Only 1,974 D&D Sapphire Anniversary Dice Setswill be available to the public, so mark November 21st at 11am Pacific Time on your calendar so you don’t miss out! These dice sets will only be available directly from Wizards of the Coast at a price of $299.99 (USD). For more product information, including more images of these beautiful dice, head to D&D Sapphire Anniversary Dice Set.

Join in the celebration of D&D’s forty-fifth anniversary and pick-up this beautiful dice set when it’s available on November 21st!

* Okay, you caught us. Humans grew these sapphires in laboratories on Earth. Sorry.

** Still kidding. Still lab-grown by humans.

I suggest Hasbro to publish a dungeon-crawling board game with simple rules and with a special set of dices: 1d5, 1d7, 1d9, 1d11, 1d14, 1d16, 1d18, 1d22, 1d24, for collectors. Somebody could use for other house rules.

There's a cool plastic Demogorgon action figure from one of the Loot Crates going for about $200 on the secondary market right now . . . . cool figure, a big "no" on that price. But I'm okay with it being out there and not on my shelf . . . . although it IS much cooler looking than most of the Demogorgon miniatures produced for the game over the years. Why does such an iconic bad guy get such lousy looking miniatures?!?!

You haven't seen the one Gail Force Nine made have you?
Buy that. 1st & last Demogorgan you'll ever need. You'll need to paint it though....

Annoying as hell, though: you grab a mittful of d6s to roll for fireball damage and when 4 of them come up with a logo, each one has to be checked to see if it's a 1 or a 6.

That, and maybe having logo on '1' might encourage the return of some roll-low mechanics?
Totally agree. The logo should be on the "1", as the picture on the ace in a deck of cards. It's a small thing but it bugs me.

With DSA dice (the black eye system) they put the logo on the one (they only use d20 and d6) because it is the most favorable number in this system.

But another thought comes to mind: If the sapphire is mounted to the flat were the 1 is located on the d20 and this would be the side opposite to the 20 on a d20 and if it would add some asymmetric mass to it so the die gets heavier on the 1, then you would roll a lot of 20s with that die.

You can already buy/use them for your DCC game:

But I mean a board game sold in the toy shops not only in North-America but also in Europe. Something like a "Endlessquest" (Heroquest now is trademark by other company) limited edition. It could be a rule about degrees, for example 1d4+1 would become 1d5, 1d20-2 -> 1d18, or +3(ability score) and +4 (skill) would become +1d7.

And I suggest to add some changes in the d20 system as new abilities scores: Courage(bravery), Acuity (mixture of perception and astuteness) and Spirit (resistance against paranormal forces, karma, fate, luck, guardian angel, divine blessing). Al least in a pdf like an optional playtesting. And a free app to play solo mode, where the AI would show the files of the characters, hidden traps when these are activated or movement by the nPCs when the solo player would total control, allowing to test his own house rules (for example about monster pets as sidekicks).

I thought it's set of dice made of sapphire:D
Yeah, so did I. I might shell out $300 for that. Three hundred bucks for aluminum dice? I hope they look better in real life than they do in the images. (And I also hate the trend of putting symbols in place of the top number. Just show me what I friggin' rolled, please.)

Oh well. If WotC clears a nice fat profit margin on these, that's more money to spend making the things I do want to buy from them.
