D&D 3E/3.5 3.0 Master of Chains, modernized/rewritten to 3.5

The Master of Chains is a canny opportunist whose intimidating presence is capable of inciting hardened soldiers into a panic. Using mystical martial techniques first pioneered by chain devils in the early days of the Blood War, a Master of Chains can gain an unnatural degree of control over his weapon, enhancing its damage potential and even allowing him to use it as a weapon.
I just re-read this Dandu (Trying to roleplay already towards it).. I guess You mean armor at the end ?

Greetings!

Sweeping Strikes (Ex): At 7th level, a Master of Chains gains the ability to make great, sweeping swings with his spiked chain. On each melee attack Master of Chains makes, he can choose squares he threatens that are adjacent to each other, and his attacks apply to creatures in those two squares equally. A Master of Chains can use this ability on any attack, even an attack of opportunity or a cleave attempt.
A Master of Chains cannot use this ability if he has moved more than 10 feet since the end of his last turn. If a Master of Chains drops one or both of his foes with a sweeping strike, he can attempt a cleave normally; however, he makes only one cleave attempt per sweeping strike, even if he drops more than one foe.

Constant vigilance: An opponent who enters into your threatened are must treat your threatened squares as difficult terrain, forcing him to move with caution.

Cheap shot: Any opponent that you threaten who takes any sort of movement provokes an attack of opportunity from you before they leave the threatened area. They are also unable to use the withdraw action to treat the square they start in as no longer threatened by you.

Special thanks to Dendu, for all the great suggestions/fixes/changes!

This is borked as all hell. You're effectively cone AoE'ng every single attack.. and you can do so whenever anyone does pretty much anything.... and you can use SPECIAL ATTACKS on both of those. Meaning you get to "Cone Trip"... constantly.

Even taking a "five foot step" would provoke an attack of opportunity. In fact, the wording is so insanely open ended that simply drawing a sword would result in an attack of opportunity.

Further, the wording INTENTIONALLY denies the victim of the author any means of escaping the mass of AoOs that combat reflexes is certain to provide.

Constant vigilance is copied from the Knight 3 ability, Cheap Shot is copied from the Crusader's Thicket of Blades stance, and Sweeping Strike is copied from the Warmind 5 class feature.

Presumably a Knight/Crusader/Warmind is broked as hell as well, then?

Honestly, I think you're getting worried over nothing. I mean compared to people who can cause plants to entangle you, cover you in sticky webs which hamper movement even if you make the save, conjure naughty tentacles, create fog thick enough to slow down all movement to 5 feet, summon hurricanes, automatically kill/blind/paralyze/deafen enemies, and reverse the gravitational constant, I think it's pretty balanced.

Even taking a "five foot step" would provoke an attack of opportunity.
Yes, that is how Crusaders roll.

I don't know about your games, but in mine, "movement" has a specific meaning, which is covered in the SRD section regarding movement.

Dimension Door.

I was already thinking of a similar post as Dandu's... Considering Cheapshot is starting at level character level 15.. Look at what other classes have.

No idea why it's bad worded... It's the same as normal AOO's except also when you take a 5 ft step...

It's only badly worded if we live in a world where people think that tactical movements and bowel movements should be treated in the same way.

Lol-ed :)

Dinged level 4 last saturday.. Sadly next partygame is more then a month away due to all the holidays. Can't wait to start this class.

I'm feeling that my character really would fit this roll and role ;)

Incidentally, you'd get the captsone at level 14.

Class power comparisons are worse for the MoC at level 15 since that's when 8th level spells come into play. I strongly suspect that some of those spells are stronger than all of the MoC's class features.

I was thinking of the effect of those spells on monsters the party would face. In addition, monsters the party will face do have those spells available, ie, the Glabrezu has Reverse Gravity.
