D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Cool magic items for fighter, around 7000 gp or less?

There are Ioun Stones (at 8kGP) that boost stats: +2 to Int would boost kkill points, to Dex would boost AC.

Gauntlets of Ogre Power (4kGP) boosts Str, which helps drop foes faster, and generally speaking, dead foes don't hit back.

Bags of Tricks let's you play "pokemon".

While I wouldn't suggest re-doing the character, has she done any multiclassing to spice things up? A dip in Rogue (or Lurk, Beguiler, Spellthief, PsyWar, etc.) might season up the PC in a way she likes.

It isn't a magical item, but if she has an abundance of feats, she can take Martial Study, and learn a maneuver from ToB.
Question about that. The feat says, "Select any maneuver from the chosen discipline for which you meet the prerequisites." I'm not familiar enough with the book to be sure I'm doing this correctly, but it appears to me that I can take the feat and select a 9th level maneuver that has no prerequisites. Isn't that broken? What am I missing?

Well, I believe a 9th level maneuver has the prereq of requiring the user be 17th level. I'd have to go through the TOB and figure out where that is spelled out, but the level of maneuvers you can use is based on character level, much like a spellcaster and his spell levels.

Edit: Page 39 of TOB. Table 3-1: Highest-Level Maneuvers Known. It is based on initiator level.

Oooohhh. OK, that makes it a little more sane. A little.

OK, I think she'd like the Battle Leader's Charge, which she could get at 6th level. She does charges often, so boosts would be appealing to her, I think. But I'd also try to sell her on selecting Desert Wind discipline maneuvers, so she gets Tumble as a class skill. I mean, if she's going to be in light armor anyway....

Thanks!

It's not my place to push her into something else. She's learning, and I'm fine supporting that. She wanted to try a fighter, so I'm going to try to find ways to make an enjoyable fighter for her.

(By the way, Crown of White Ravens? Awesome. THANK YOU.)
It just strikes me odd that she's going to be spending time, money, and feats imitating a ToB class when she could just play a ToB class and still be as much of a fighter as a Fighter.

I agree, first subtly introduce her to the awesomeness if ToB maneuvers, than drop the hint that she'd get even more if she simply played one of the classes.

Because Initiator level = Initiator classes + 1/2 all other classes, she can take a single level dip and end up with maneuvers of high levels. I've suggested builds with a single dip into Swordsage at level 13 (1 level swordsage + 6 initiator levels) to have 6 maneuvers up to level 4, or a single dip into Swordsage at level 17 (1 Swordsage + 8 initiator levels) to have 6 maneuvers up to level 5. Dips in Crusader and Warblade work just as well to keep the BAB, but less maneuvers at level 1.

That's a great point. I'll share it with her.

Having said that, what she's decided is that she really wants tessellated armor. Since she cannot afford it, we've done this:

  • helm of protection (like the ring, but takes up a different slot)
  • mithral breastplate, with restful crystal
That got her close, and only cost about 6000 gp. She now has better AC, a light load, and can sleep in armor without penalty. She's hoping she will be able to move around more and take more hits. It might be a minimal improvement, but it's what delights her, so it's what we did.

Thanks all!

Really, if I were in your shoes I'd be floating the Psychic Warrior, or possibly even the swashbuckler...

But if you REALLY want to blow her mind... make her a Binder. =) That will give her a plethora of options in what she can do... allowing her to essentially rebuild her character based on what style of play she wants to adopt.
