G'day, people!

The latest In the Works has been posted on the Wizards website.

Of particular note:
* Changes to the structure of the DMG (Discussion)
* The stats for the 3.5E Titan (Discussion)
* A few D&D miniatures shown in relative scale

This thread is about the third of those three significant notes.

I suddenly see why the Ogre miniature is rare... it's huge!

Unfortunately, these are not the actual miniatures, but the pre-production ones. (The real ones won't look that good. :()

I do think that the size of that Ogre will make it one of the more valued miniatures in the set; I shudder to think of its price on the secondary market.

Cheers!

What's the one between Jozan and the centaur? Is that an orc?

Oooh! :D

And then there's that easy chip shot for the ogre -- that little kobold. Crack open your Monster Manual to page 124, and compare the mini to the illo. He's very reminiscent, but a tad meaner. The spear's ready for action and the look on his face gets across the idea that he and about two-dozen of his buddies will be back for (hit-and-run) revenge -- Meepo style.

The thing between Jozan and the Centaur is an orc priest of Grummsh, apparently - the "Eye of Grummsh"

That orc (Eye of Grummsh, you'll notice) is quite bulked up (compared to the also-Medium-sized human cleric) and mean. You can't see it in this picture, but his shield has a great holy symbol of Grummsh device on it.

It's got a tall visored helmet with a plume on it, making the figure look larger than it is.

Cheers!

Interestingly, the ogre figure has a 40mm base (corresponds to a 10' facing/space), whilst in 3E it would have needed a 25mm base (5' facing/space).

I'd guess that's changing in 3.5E

Cheers!

I hope those aren't sealed so that they can be easily stripped and given a proper paint job. Egads, those look like those bad D&D plastics from the 80's.

If with those horrible paint jobs they are far and above better than I could do on my own. I look foward to picking up some of these miniatures.
I dont want to have to buy the paint, brushes, basing, and all the other things that are involved with that side of the hobby.
Plus with 4 kids running around my house they would just end up getting ahold of all of it and painting the walls.

Ayup. Large creatures will have a standard 10 ft. fighting space.

I don't think the minis look too good, but I couldn't do much better (I'd propably be worse).
