[3.5] In the Works - Miniature pictures

I hope those aren't sealed so that they can be easily stripped and given a proper paint job. Egads, those look like those bad D&D plastics from the 80's.

Lets hope so. I was looking in the gallery at some closeups. If those were the best they have to offer...

Nice as cannon fodder but for the true mini painting aficionado they're just terrible. :( At least let it be a thin coat of paint so the primer can lay on top of it without sacrificing too much "detail".

Interestingly, the ogre figure has a 40mm base (corresponds to a 10' facing/space), whilst in 3E it would have needed a 25mm base (5' facing/space).

I'd guess that's changing in 3.5E

Cheers!

Or, they got the bases wrong as I have conjectured in previous posts about the new line.

Keep in mind that the bases for the Chain Mail Ogres were also oversized.

Nope. Large (tall) 3.5 creatures have 10' space -- meaning they take up 10 ft x 10 ft. IIRC, you can look at the Large (tall) critters in Fiend Folio as examples -- they're all Space/Reach 10 ft/10 ft. IIRC, of course.

I was glad to hear that they'll be including fit-into-smaller-spaces rules; avoids that Murphy's about two horses not being able to pass on a 10 foot wide path. :)

I have never pictured Ogres as that big.

Here's to hoping they are realistic, easy to remember, and easy to judiciate.

With these larger Face's, Tumbling through someones space will be even more common.

I think a shot of DullCote would go a long way on these guys. It could just be the photography, but they seem toy-glossy.

I am intrigued by the promise of "three different levels of painting". The Ogre, for instance, could probably get a 6.0 on CoolMiniOrNot, and he supposedly recieved the highest level of painting.

I'll pick up some of those Kobolds on the secondary market and clean them up with some new painting. Of course, I am fond of Kobolds.

Are they metal or plastic? Lysol strips pewter very well, nail polish remover strips resin plastic (like Warhammer) if you are careful.

Of course they are, they're amss produced, and not aimed at the proper mini hobbyist. Why would they be? If you're a true mini hobbyist, then why are you buying prepainted plastics?

They're plastic, but not the resin like Warhammer ones. I can't remember which type of plastic they are however.
