D&D 3.x 3.5 PHB Errata are up...

Personally, I think the new PHB errata are Fine.
However, I mean that in the D20 sense, "the size smaller than Tiny."
Am I the only one who was expecting at least a Medium Errata?

I think they got enough hints and proposals from the community (like EN-World) to dish out a bigger errata. Most of the things errated are done in 3 minutes of time. Why so few errata ?

Thanks for the scoop Hyp. I'm disappointed the "buff" spells (Bull's Strength, etc.) didn't get their duration changed to 10 min/level (instead of the worthless 1 min/level). One can still hope....

That's not really errata though. They intentionally ramped the durations down. Besides, you can always ignore what's written and house-rule it in your campaign however you see fit.

Well, they cleverly decided that certain rulebooks had precedence over others on certain subjects, and that text had precedence over tables, so that allowed them to dispense with a huge number of errors. The problem with this approach is that it puts the onus for finding the errors on the reader. If you don't notice that there's a problem with the Bull Rush entry in the combat action tables, you're out of luck. That's weak, IMO.

Some of the mistakes are covered by the Primary Source Rule. A lot of others are just typos or grammatical errors, which they intentionally didn't write errata for.

The balor's vorpal sword doesn't have an 'original' form. As such, i would count it as a Supernatural ability that is lost when the shapechanger shifts to a new form.

Since when equipement is consider Supernatural abilities. I have always consider the Balor Vorpal sword or Solar bow as equipement and not abilities, so shapeshift don't give it to the caster. Even if it is consider a power and not a piece of equipement, why should it be a supernatural power, it could be a spell-like ability, and so, it doesn't gain with a shapechange.

Well, I haven't seen any official word but I'd put money on it. That's assuming we're talking about a full second printing and not just an option to re-run the presses. I don't know about the US but, in the UK, a publisher usually pays for print run X with an option to print Y additional copies at the original rate, if taken within a certain timeframe (which is usually a matter of weeks to months). I'd guess printers in the US do something along the same lines. In that case, if an option is exercised, it's still considered part of the first printing. It uses the original films and therefore would not incorporate any errata.

If, for one reason or another, WotC finds a second printing justifiable a year to eighteen months from now, any option to extend the original print run will have expired. In that case, I reckon it would pay to incorporate these and any other errata that have been collated in time. The pre-production costs would not be that great and the potential to sell copies to mugs (yes, like me ) who simply don't want errata slipping out of their core book sleeves, as well as to new players, may well be great enough to justify the go-ahead.

This third paragraph is simply inexcusable in a post containing so few (ie no) facts. I'll let it die and go back to lurking, shall I?

Since the 3.5 Monster Manual started listing equipment as abilities. In 3rd edition this was not even an issue, as the Salamander's Spear was listed in its Treasure (which no way transfers with Polymorph). In 3.5 they decided to list the Balor's Sword and the Titan's Hammer as abilities with tags.

Tags which cause them to be duplicable with Shapechange.

I've been against that the whole time - there is no way that those things should be abilities - but there they are in black and white with little (Su) tags.

TSR and WotC have had a long history of updating with each printing. I think there are minor or major changes in every different printing of the D&D rules books. It doesn't seem like this would change now.
