Without seeing the sidebar it's impossible to say for sure, but it also appears that the druids' animal companions have been toned down--it mentions leopards being available at 6th level while 3e 6th level druids often had Tigers or Dire Apes.

Read a bit more carefully. A 6th level druid can have a leopard and still use level 3 on the 'special stuff chart'. From dungeon we know these things are like Link and Share Spells.

Very nice, it gives a reason to stick faithfully with an old companion. A shame nothing has to do with hit points yet, since most animals are just kibble at higher levels.

The Sage said, earlier, that the druid spell per day list had a typo.

Actually, I was referring to the spelling error. The spell list is fixed (see 15th level line and compare to PHB).

Shard O'Glase:

Or in other words(or at least how i see it) they almost got it right but they were too wussy to follow through to true greatness.

Without trying to hijack the thread too much, what would you have recommended?

also check out the 13th lvl line and compare that to PHB the new revised spell per day is in error (if it's not an intended change that is).

remove all religious restricitons crap. Just give the proficiencies in what they should styalsitically be proficient in. Doing this just for weapons but leaving the restrictions in for armor is just lame.

Why can't druids use bows? I never understood that.

Kinda started out that way for pseudo-historical reasons relating to the druid's Celtic origins (Celts are associated with using slings).

Later, a lot of different folks came to the common conclusion that the reason was because a bow is a hunter's weapon, and a druid--widely cookie-cuttered into the image of a critter-cuddling vegan--wouldn't use naughty, mean hunting weapons, and that stereotype-based notion caught on.

These days it also sticks around as part of a balance issue. A bow a martial weapon, and for the most part they want the pure-warrior types to have the best access to martial weapons.

Anyhow, let me also take this moment to give a big thumb's up to the revised druid class.

Anyone care to start a pool on how positive comments we can squeeze before the druid indignation committee arrives? ;)

It's all about the oath, man. I have no issues with it. If you don't dig it just houserule it out. ;)

Elven druids with bows. This, I like.

Re: the spontaneous casting -- so how many of Andy Collins' house rules are now core rules? :D

Edit: ISTR hearing that animal growth no longer doubles HD -- that sounds like good news. Animal growthed dire tigers are just nasty.

What's wrong with them being able to stride through wodlands? ;)

(Edit: The correct spelling is, of course, WoDlands stride. This gives the druid to move through the World of Darkness with ease, without getting hassled by masquerading vampires, apocalypsing werewolves, ascending mages, dreaming changelings, oblivious wraiths, reckoning hunters, fallen demons, or the like. ;p)
