Ok...so you are saying that psychic masters +2 to crit range is ok to override the Improved Critical feat, because it was added later, while discipline isn't ok, because it was added before.

But then again, why wouldn't they correct it later, if it was such a big problem?

Jimlock, I am aware of the date ranges you are posting. What I am saying is that they do not matter. By the rules, Disciple of Dispater works despite the change in wording of Improved Critcial due to a case of specific vs general.

You appear to be arguing against this based on dates with the implication that it was not the intent of the designers that Disciple of Dispater continue working like that, at which point I would like to remind you that unless your name is Sean K. Reynolds, Monte Cooke, or another WotC/TSR employee, you have no idea of their intentions.

To me the intentions are crystal clear. Threat ranges were broken in many ways in 3.0

They fixed this in the most Core of Core books.. the 3.5 PHB

They were not obliged to state every change regarding the threat ranges in the 3.0 books...

It is clearly understood that the 3.5 PHB is going to take precedence.

Moreover there was no need to change the specific class ability.

Even by 3.5 the ability stays the same! ....only that it cannot combined with any other ability that increases threat range... as in the 3.5 PHB

The psychic master comes after 3.5 PHB and changes only slightly the possible threat range of the class.

It provides a +2 to the threat range, which is far from the 3.0 increase system, as it does not complicate multipliers that can give you threat ranges from 5!..(or even lower.. i do not know...) as i 3.0!

What is so difficult to understand?

Dude a 13-20 range is almost the same with a 1-20 range....simply because usually under 10 you can hit.

What? A good build can't hit with a 6 or a 7?

As far i can tell, with 3.5 rules only, a threat can't drop below 15... am i correct? or can this get a bit lower with some build that i'm missing perhaps... i don't know..

And the psychic master can get a 13? at best? Correct me if i'm mistaken...

With 3.0 you can go way bellow 10...

To whit: it does not matter since Disciple of Dispater's wording did not change. The WotC authors clearly intended for Improved Critical and Keen to not stack with each other, but that says nothing about abilities that increase threat ranges, does it?
