D&D 3E/3.5 3.5 Weaponmaster

First Post
Anyone got one? Does it need changing? What would I change to make it work in the 3.5 environment? Have we heard anything about it being reprinted in 3.5? I assume nothing given that it didn't show up in Complete Warrior.

If it hasn't been updated, you can probably simply use the 3.0 version "as is".

Bye

Except I'd changing the wording of the critical expanding abilities to work with 3.5 stacking.

So's the CW Samurai. Hah! :p

I don't know if I would use the CW Kensai with OA. The Kensei (which is actually Weapon Master prestige class ... errata'ed) is good enough for me.

No, Kae Yoss, the CW "Kensai" is not and updated Weapon Master, it's a distinct class in it's own right.

For me, it's clear: In 3.0, the Kensai was the weapon master, and now we have a new version of Kensai, and one that has to get a "Signature Weapon", one that uses Ki and is monk-friendly. Unless there will be a Weapon Master Class in a 3.5 Book (other than fighter, which can fill that role quite well), I'll consider the WM and the Kensai to be still the same thing.

No, KaeYoss. In 3.0, the weaponmaster was the weapoinmaster. Oriental Adventures gave the name "Kensai" to their reprint of the Weapon Master, but that doesn't mean that future, non-OA products that re-use the Kensai name must, therefor, be updates to the weapon master.

"Kensai" has been used, re-used, and re-re-used time and again in D&D. In 1E's Oriental Adventures, it was a base class. In 3E Oriental Adventures, it was an "orientalised" name for the Weapon Master. And in Dragon Magazine, there is another "Kensai" class - it's in issue #310 or #311 IIRC, as a "specialist fighter" for 3.5e!

So, tell me ... would the "real" Kensai please stand up?

I would just like to point out that the two classes to not share the same name. The OA class is the Kensei and the CW class is the Kensai
