D&D 3E/3.5 [3.5] Whip. Hows it work now?

A Medium whip does 1d3 subdual (oops, sorry, "nonlethal") damage. It is treated as a melee weapon with a 15' reach; however using it provokes an AoO as if you were using a ranged weapon. You can use Weapon Finesse with a whip. Otherwise pretty much the same.

I have a Lasher character and want to know what changes the 3.5 whip has.

Thanks

Mmmmmm... Laaaaasheeeerr

And I guess in 3.5 a Kraken Lasher will still only threaten the 5' around it...

it provokes an AoO, doesn't threaten, and can be used within its reach range. On top of that it is a finesse-able weapon.

How is this not a ranged weapon?????

It doesn't automatically use your Dex mod for attack rolls.

There's no penalty to attacking opponents engaged in melee.

It doesn't work with Rapid Shot, Far Shot, Point Blank Shot, etc.
