[3.5e] Undersea Adventures: "Heirs of Turucambi"

Treasure may be similarly altered, as many undersea races value rare corals, pearls, and shells far more than coins and gemstones.

To be fair, one does need to account for the occasional mermaid who hoards thing-a-ma-bobs and snarfblatts in her hidden grotto. ;)

Coins, being somewhat rare, are not by default valueless. Many undersea races see the value of metal for weapons and utilitarian objects. A few might even see the beauty in golden jewelry forged by drylanders. Fewer still might appreciate the rarity of coins minted by "Those Above".

I look at it this way. I have a wallet filled with paper money. I might also have some Chinese yuan in there. The dollar bills will spend more readily, in my neighborhood.

Once again, I am recruiting... a new player disappeared into the ether...

Alright, so who is currently in the party? From what you've posted, I gathered it to be:
- half-vampire sea elf ranger
- half-fey sea elf warlock
- oceanid monk/wizard
- warforged shaman (OA) (gone)
- sahuagin warblade
- sea elf ninja

Based on that...I guess a divine caster would be good. I'll think of a Druid build after I do some errands today, are you playing 9 pm tonight?

Just umm...probably a dumb question...where/how is this game played?

You will need an IRC client like mIRC (Windows) or Snak (Mac), or use a web interface such as that provided at Mibbit.com - Easy and fast Webchat.

Ok, some questions. How is character creation done? Point buy (how much?) or rolling? Standard wealth for level 6?

I figured I’d do Aquatic Half-Elf or Aquatic Gnome from Unearthed Arcana. There is also an “Amphibious” template in Stormwrack that I didn’t notice an LA for; that could be applied to presumably any race. If all those are out, I guess Darfellan or Sea Kin (Stormwrack) would work.

Do you have any specific houserules on how spells work in the water? Is fire worse than the core rules states it is? Does electricity shock a large area, due to water conducting? Are acid and poison diluted? Would type of poison matter? (maybe ingested and injury work fine; airborn/inhaled toxins like cloudkill are weaker or ineffective; not sure what would happen to contact poisons…) How much have you altered things?

I'll go install that program.

I now have an opening for a new player.

PCs must have a natural swim speed and the ability to breathe underwater without the use of magic. As the game is mid-level, new players may have 20,000 XP to build their character (including the use of "monster levels").

So, what entices you, to explore the realm of liquid space?
