3 day weekend!

Heading to the Outer Banks of North Carolina tomorrow morning, both for the holiday weekend and for our first anniversary which is on Monday! I'll enjoy the weather and the beach until Tuesday, when I will drive home, so that extends the weekend to 4 days. Then I get a day off to run errands on Wednesday, get on a plane on Thursday to go to NY for my Mom's retirement dinner, and fly back home the following Sunday. All told, it'll be a 9 day weekend for me! :)

Congrats on the first anniversary, Cthulhu's Librarian.

The wife and I are taking our 3 boys to Chattanooga for the weekend. We'll catch a Lookouts minor league baseball game, and do the aquarium, IMAX theater and children's musuem, all withing walking distance of our hotel.

I don't know why, but I have developed this attitude that the ideal vacation requires abandoning our personal vehicle. We can use the van to get to our destination, but one there is must be parked and not seen again until our departure. I can't explain this, but it makes me happy when it works out that way.

Either that's a misspelling, or Rhode Island is much more awesome than I ever thought.

On my end, I think I'm getting together with my improv class tonight. Tomorrow, probably working for a few hours in the morning. Saturday night, I've somehow tricked a woman into going on a date. Sunday, more improv practice. Monday, probably sleep late, maybe do a little mini painting, and then a show that night. I'll try to work some Guinness into my busy schedule as well.

Drive to Iowa tonight; attend niece's b-day party tomorrow and drive back to Wisconsin tomorrow night; chill out on Sunday and Monday!

Thanks!

The aquarium in Chattanooga is one of the best I've ever been to; my wife & I sort of consider ourselves to be aquarium geeks. Whenever we see one, we go to it, and we've been to a bunch of them.

We're driving up to the big tourist mecha of... Rhode Island... to see my wife's great aunt. I've never been, so it will at least be something new. Although I'm not looking forward to that drive.. D.C., New York, Jersey. Ugh. I have a sneaking suspicion I'm not going to arrive until Midnight.

Ah, the joys of driving 95>Jersey Turnpike on a holiday weekend. Can't say that I envy you... When you get up into New England, see if you can do some driving on US 1 (or is it 101?) along the coast, especially in Rhode Island. There is some beautiful coastline there, I used to go there for vacation sometimes when I lived in NY to get away from everything. Small town New England on the beach. And if you can hit Mystic Seaport, it's well worth stopping. I've been there 4 or 5 times, and enjoy it more each time.

I would have had a three day weekend, but my plans kinda fell through, so I told a coworker I'd work for him on Sunday so he can go do something. I felt bad for him, since he asked everyone and no one wanted to take his weekend, which wasn't even his because one of our more annoying techs switched with him. He only wanted Sunday off, so I have Saturday and Monday to myself.

Saturday I'll probably be recouperating from a twelve day stretch at work. I also plan to finally see Episode 3, and maybe treat myself to lunch. I'd like to do a load of laundry, but it's supposed to be rainy here, so I don't think that's going to get done.

Monday I don't have anything planned, and it's wonderful!
