I have a feeling this thread is going to go down in flames! I don't knock other systems, if I don't like it (after trying it) I don't play it, I don't come into the forums to complain about them.

Exactly.

I dont play 4E but i dont go around randomly bashing it either. I've been following Mike Mearls articles not because I'm interested in taking following in the direction where they might be taking 4E but because they are interesting articles.

But to declare "play what you like" then in the same breath bash another system reeks of disingenuousness.

Not that this thread has much potential, but most of the posts on message board forums about RPGs are "I've got Problem X, can someone help me solve it?" And ENWorld is exceptionally good at solving those problems.

If you don't want to use it as that sort of resource, OK, but it's not an inherently bad idea to do so. My campaign has been greatly improved by soliciting the advice of others.

That's nice.

I don't suppose a mod could merge this with the three-thousand other identical threads in this forum?

This! It just seems to be another of the same. Everyone has their own preferences to game editions and systems, we don't need to rehash and start more flame wars here and a thread like this will start just that when it starts with the complaints of someone and then we get another person posting about their hatred of another system. It just goes on and on becoming more petty.

See I understand soliciting for advice, I do it as well and my games are greatly improved when I talk to people on these forums asking for their comments/ideas when running my games. I just don't care for it when people jump on a soap box and start complaining about a particular system. If you want a way to improve a game and are asking for specifics, that's awesome, if you are going to dog on a system for some reason that's a different animal. Not that the OP has dogged on 4E, but the potential of this thread (IMHO) is definitely there to become a flame war, especially when a few posts below someone has already started with the "crapfinder" comment.
