D&D 4E 4E Encounter Calculator

Darkthorne

First Post
Many many thanks go to Withak for providing the base data & idea. I just cobbled that together with a bit of polish. Have fun!!

(06-12-08)
Added tweaks: Thanks to PA for added ideas!
1) Scroll up & down indicator for monster pulldowns
2) Added xp value to show in monster pulldown
3) If monster is too high or too low based off of level range or xp value it will not show in pulldown
4) Readded Filter sheet for all monsters for reference (originally done by Withak)
5) Added instructions on how to use

Ooo was told "It's too big". That's something I don't tire of hearing :D

I really like the work that you have done here. I figured that I would contribute some to this project as well. I added the XP values to the monster choice list so a GM will know what they are adding before they select the monster, and I also fixed some bugs that prevented you from removin any info from the calculator. I also added a little functionality to the Monster Database to allow easier sorting. I included some instructions.

Edit: for some reason, I am unable to attach the file. If someone else wants to try, I can email it to you. I will also try again later.

Edit 2: I got it!

PA,
Ok, I see what you have done. I'll retweak when I get the chance. Also will keep the reference data hidden. I had it automatically not showing a monster if his level or xp amount was too high. I'll retweak that for if it is too low as well.

Withak,
For your encounter level do a list of viable levels they can choose from. That way they aren't choosing levels WAY too high and not "getting it". See the attached file, use it if you would like.

Great work guys, this is just what I needed to throw together encounters on the fly. :)

Might I suggest that instead of making the monsters names appear invisible in the dropdown list perhaps color code them as green for too easy and red as too hard? (and/or put an "e" for easy and "H" for hard for the color blind GMs) That way you can still view them but know if they are too hard or easy. :)
