Ah ok maybe a torch is made of wood and would hold up a rope as a bouy... well lets see where it goes for a while... I have an axe to make something which was once fixed into a piece of loose floating material ;)

Damn...I'm kind of racking my brains here, but I can't think of much/anything I can do to stop this.

Oh, I can -escape- easily enough, but druids don't get any powers that'd help them save a ship from getting burned up by pitch.

If anyone else has ideas, I'm all for trying something.

I reckon we should get the boat to one bank or other and take the fight to them and hope that they cant throw a long way from the other side.

IG, how wide and fast flowing is this river ?

Slow and narrow; probably less than 20 feet on either side of the boat to the banks. You could easily stop the ship and hop off, if that's what you're thinking. Of course, others could easily hop on as well.

Honestly, I don't know how realistic this scenario would be in real life, with a ship traveling down such a narrow canal, but this is fantasy... it is what it is. ;)

Excuse the double post, but I just had to snicker at this. It's not often I get to stump Shayuri.

The problem is, when Shayuri finally gets an idea, I'm usually screwed.

IG - at a quick count, roughly how many Gobbos are there on each bank?

If either side has less than double our "fighting strength" (our crew and the armed sailors) I would think that our best bet would be to try and sail through until we see any fire. Once we spot a firebug we could either concentrate on him to take him down before he throws, or head towards the oposite shore anf fight there. I would prefer to try and fight through and only beach when the ship is actually on fire and not just the pitch alight.

As far as Vatan is concerned, this is a ranged fight until such time as the Captain beaches the boat. He has already given his opinion, and is leaving it in the Captain's hands. A dead Gobbo with an arrow sticking out of it is just as dead as one with no head. ;)

Out of curiousity, just how quickly does pitch burn, and how easily is it put out? Will soaking the ship get rid of the fire risk?

Poor Jude's stuck with just a pair of javelins. ah well, just get behind him and he'll provide cover ;).

If a fire starts maybe athletics can help?

Could someone run this through the character builder? I think this is the new build I'll be going with.
