4e lovefest?

Anyone else thinking ENworld is turning into a 4e love fest? Should we all invite Scott Rouse and Bill Slavicsek over for dinner and sing praises on them for saving us from the horrible 3.5 and preventing D&D from dying a horrible death? Then get "a heart with 4e inside of it tattooed on our arms.

How horrible that people should like it.

I fail to see why the site wouldn't be moving from a '3e lovefest' to a '4e lovefest', personally.

That would have been bizarre.

I dunno -- does love for one require you to HATE the other? This site has room for players of every version from 1 to 9 (OD&D, Basic/Holmes, AD&D1, Basic/Moldvay, Basic/Mentzer, AD&D2, Player's Options, D&D3, and D&D4).

Just because one player says, "3E was getting too complicated" doesn't mean it requires another player saying, "4E is crap and whoever likes it is settling for some gamist subpar claptrap", escalating it another step further.

I've seen some forums where different versions of D&D can't EVER be discussed civilly without threats and epithets, and I don't want to see it happen here. I've got news for anyone treading on someone's love for their game: We're gamers. In most cases, we roll dice, we gather with friends, we swap small talk, we give high fives and shouts when someone rolls exceptionally well in a pinch, and we talk about what imaginary character we're playing next. If we can't discuss the differences and similarities in a game without tearing each other a new one, then what the Hell is wrong with us?

I'm going to come to your house and make your dog eat your 3.5e books until both are dead.

Cheers, -- N
