I apologize for this bit of thread necromancy, but they released the stat card for iron dragons a while ago and we haven't talked about it.

I don't know what to make of these guys! Their lightning breath weapon has a pull power, a power that seems right out of the Controller playbook. However, they also have a Sneak Attack power, which suggests a Lurker or Skirmisher role. I thought W&M implied they were Brutes - I don't know what's going on anymore!!! ;) I don't know DDM very well - does 65 hp for their point value seem high or low? If it's low, it probably isn't a Brute.

Does any Wizards insider want to come along and drop a few hints? We won't tell anyone! ;)

Since dragons were in the MM, and then we get Chromatics DraConomicon, I think we'll have metallics in the MM2 (along with Frost Giants) and then a Metallic Draconomicon.

My question is: will anyone use the metallics? I confess I like that Iron dragon's breath and pull + aura. That's sneaky.

I'll use Metallic Dragons but not as Metallics just like how I don't use Chromatics as Chromatics. In my campaigns, Dragons are just Dragons. I will use the stats to individualize various individual or breeds of Dragons but their all just Dragons.

So a "Metallic" and "Chromatic" stat-wise could be sibling Dragons in one of my games for instance.

The use of Roles especially with Dragons are a god-sent with making very easily making individual Dragon personalities within a group of Dragons.

I think they would appear in the Draconomicon. ;)

EDIT: Then again, maybe not.

With only Chromatic Dragons in the upcoming Draconomicon, I'd expect a Draconomicon II for just Metallic Dragons. I wouldn't even be surprised by a Draconomicon III for Gem Dragons. Of course this is all purely speculation on my part.:o

This is kind of how I do it. Different breeds, usually in specific geographic areas. In some places they may be called "Metallic" because of the sheen of their scales but their scales are no more different than any other dragon. Every breed uses Fire as a breath weapon also. Dragons that can use other energies are due to acquired magical knowledge.

What do the RPG stats on the opposite side show?
I haven't been able to find the RPG side of the card.

In answer to Rechan, I plan on using metallics. Mostly they will be allies of the PCs, but I do have some ideas for overbearing, tyrannical metallic dragon lords.
