D&D 4E 4e: Stats of Stat Bonus?

I'd like to see this change as well.

You wouldn't even have to have "negative" numbers. Just change the scale of DCs and other checks, and have stats range from +0 to +8 for the normal human range.

I don't see what the problem is with having scores that give you modifiers. I wouldn't like it if the stat block said -1 rather than 8. I do think that either every point should give a different modifier (rather than one every other level) or someother method of having a difference of 1 in a score mean something.

Its an extra level of complexity that you don't need. Your 8 doesn't really mean much other then –1, so why doesn't it just say –1 instead?

Exactly!

In past editions, fighters mainly, got special bonuses for strength and constitution.

Stats didn't get bonuses till much higher levels.

Now it's a sipmle formula and it's universal. Just use the results of the formula and ha! Done!

I'd like for there to be some kind of "bonus feat-like abilities" attached to certain ability score numbers, both low and high (like low Intelligence gives you added resistance to Illusions, or some such).
