[4e] The Wolfcrown, Chapter 1

Squeal watches the Tiefling as the others in the group interrogate him. Playing casualy with the amulet on it's chest Squeal looks at Teach

"This one would like to know, why did that one feel the need to make this one and it's companions look like these ones had been responsible for the King's murder?"

Teach looks up at Squeal.

"That's a question for the big boss. He said - 'Teach, pin this here crime on these here people.' I just did what Munsu told me - the bastard."

Teach then turns and looks up at Thorn.

"I don't doubt that you'd like to gut me. I can see it in your face. What is it that you want? An apology? You won't get that. Information? What do you want from me? What do I tell you in order to avoid getting cut open?"

"I'm not in charge here," Thorn said, not bothering to deny Teach's words. "Don't worry so much about what I want, or what you should say to me. Think about what you can say to the officials of this country that will keep their interest in you alive. You want examples?"

She started ticking off fingers. "Munsu's plans. What comes next. What's his objective in all this? Details on the ships, arms, tactics, and so on used by Port September's forces. Details on Munsu's chain of command. Who's his second in charge? And so on. You used to be a leader, Teach. Tell us what you'd want to know FROM us, if you had us prisoner right now. That's a good start. We'll go from there."

Torath shakes and takes one stepo towards the fallen leader of the cloak at is second blashpemy. Stopping himself noone can see his knuckles turning white under his guantlets, but the grip on the sword looks tight. He stops after the first step shakes his head and sheathes the sword harshly.

"I will hear none of this," Torath says to the others. "I will wait in the Captian's chambers." He turns and starts to leave as Thorn address Teach.

"If he doesn't talk or should not say anything relivant, send for me it would be an honor to take out his useless tongue."

Torath leaves then and doesn't look back.

[sblock=OOC] not needing skill checks are we and that would have been a bluff for Torath if we were. [/sblock]

Teach spits onto the moulded ground.

"Munsu never told me his plans. I was just the one who moved the pieces around for him. As to his second in command? That would've been me, but he says he doesn't have any use for Cap'n Teach anymore. Right before he had his boys throw me out of HQ, he said he had five left to break, whatever the hell that means."

Teach takes a moment to think, then smiles broadly, as if he's just hit upon a revelation.

"There used to be six of you, right?"

"Aye, the only breakin' that'll happen here'll be that between me hammer and Munsu's skull if I e'er get the displeasure o' meetin' him." Baern steps from the shadows, said hammer slung over his muscled shoulder. "Where's the headquarters?"

Thorn schooled her face to stillness, trying hard not to betray the sudden turmoil. Munsu wanted them, and probably had from the start. He'd no doubt hoped the frameup would lead to their executions, or at -least- incarceration until it was too late to help.

Of course, the irony of that was that if it hadn't been for that frameup, they'd never have gathered into a group, and the Captain would never have had a reason to send them off to the White Vale.

And that touch of poetic, self-defeating irony made Thorn think one thing: Prophecy.

"If they haven't moved it, we know where it is," Thorn said to Baern. "If they have, Teach won't know where it is. I think we're done here," she continued, stepping back from the cell. "For now. Come on."

The last was directed to the rest of the party as she turned and started walking briskly back to the dungeon's exit and back upstairs to see Scultone.

Torath doesn't quite make it to the captain's office. Outside the room he starts to pace back and forth his mind in turmoil.

If Munsu is doing all of this how can I bring myself to oppose his will. If the other gods know about his dealings why have they not tried to stop him. They wouldn't leave it up to mortals to confront a god? Would they?

Back and forth the young paladin paces and this is how the group finds him as they reach the dragonborn's office.

Squeal watches Teach as the others leave then turns and moves up the stairs.

As the warforged gets to the top of the stairs, it punches the wall before carrying on, seemingly perturbed.
