[4e] The Wolfcrown, Chapter 1

When the group finally arrives from the cells, and make it to the front of the dragonborn's office Torath asks them, "Did that rut-eater say anything useful or did he just keep on spouting lies?"

Not one to usually take charge of a situation Torath seems ill at ease with this turn of events. There are so many qyestions to be asked and answered that the young knight doesn't even know where to begin.

"I doubt that little son of a devils bitch knows much of anythhing... and even if he does he's second only to Mansu in the keeping of secrets so what he has seen and heard will not get from him... if you ask me I think we should take his tongue, eyes, and ears then he will not be able to speak, hear, or see evil again" Doren said as he grunted his tone with mean and angry....

Squeal nods at Doren "This one agrees. Although it would not remove Teach's tongue, leave it in and start removing components till Teach speaks the truth. First toes. Then fingers."

The warforged punctuates this statement by slamming it's fist into the wall.

Thorn shakes her head.

"None of you really mean that. Nor should you. I've known torturers, and none of them escape their craft intact."

She takes a deep breath. "He did say something useful though. Assuming he was telling the truth, he told us that it was on Munsu's orders that we were framed for the killing of the king. That means he had some reason to target us, even before we knew each other."

The changeling's face contorted in a scowl. "I think there's a prophecy at work...hopefully one our side knows of."

"Oh I'm deathly serious.... in fact he's the *only* man on the face of this planet I want to see dead. Doren said with vile truth in his voice. This experience wad starting to change him and show him how nieve he really has been to how this world worked.

"I'm sick of Mansu's little games here my friends. I think it's about time we dug deeper into his plans and uncover the truth... how to go about this though I've not yet figured out. Give me time and I will" Doren added with a bit more calmness to his tone now as he gathered back his senses....

"Munsu's plan?" Torath asks. "We should not question the will of a god. If there is a prophecy at work then it is the will of The Four that guides us and Munsu is one of The Four."

He restarts his pacing but stops as he walks back to where the others stand, "The question is who do we trust? I think all of us gathered here can trust each other, but how do we know that others are not serving out some agenda of The Four. An agenda that puts us in harms way, to help them in some way. Look at the Vale it served Adele that we would be their to help protect her followers."

The usually quiet paladin clamps his mouth shut knowing he is just running off at the mouth. But his fustration to know why all this is happening has him on edge.

Doren stops Torath with hands to his shoulders as he paces.. his eyes looking deep within his own...

"Far be it for me to question another mans faith.. especially yours brother but Mansu IS the reason we've all been put through all this and yet you *still* stand at his defense in one form or another? Brother you MUST open your eyes see what has been laid out before you... one of the four has betrayed the other three.. and all of *us* in the midst of it all. We are black sleep... expendable pawns to the Secret Gods game at foot... you *must* get your head out of the clouds and join the rest of us Torath.... and see what we all have seen with clear eyes." the priest utters softly to the paladin hoping he can reach is rational side.

"I see," the young paladin begins to say softly. He appears to be looking inward or maybe looking back. "I see, this as a test. This is a true test of my faith in The Four. Not in Munsu himself, he is but a part. 'The Four are the personalities of one soul. At times a person must be helpful, brave, knowledgable, and cunning. For no one trait can stand alone against evil.'" he says quoting the Book of Ra'wiet.

He shakes lose from Doren's stare and then continues quoting. "'For no one man can stand alone against The Evil One.'"

The young knight bows his head not wanting Doren to stare once more into his soul.

[sblock=OOC] I love RPing. :p [/sblock]

"That ignores a few things," Thorn says dryly.

"One, the Evil One's gone. No one person, or a hundred persons, or a million persons need stand up to him again. Two, the Gods aren't aspects of a single soul. They were people. People like us. They lived, and breathed and laughed and bled. The things they ate came out the other end, just like for all of us. They were powerful and courageous, and they did great deeds and were well rewarded for them."

She shrugs. "That doesn't mean they're not worthy of respect, of course. Quite the contrary, in fact. But lets not go rewriting history in the process of giving them their due."

Torath turns his glare on the woman as she speaks her mind, finding it to be better than looking at Doren. "Ra'wiet was a wise and great man and you," he starts to say. "No you have not read the teneths you are not familiar with what I am trying to say."

He looks thoughtful for a second and then says, "It is not that they truly are four parts of one being but that together they are like one soul. Each adds to the other creating a powerful entity, and if one man could do this he would be..." he stops and you realize he is looking into himself, looking to find four parts. "'Evil is never destroyed it is never beaten. Evil is like a wiped dog that tried to steal your food. It will return again because it knows only that it is hungry.' Like I said Ra'wiet was a wise man."

[sblock=OOC] Hehe found that 10,500th post, :p If you all haven't guessed by now I'm thinking Torath is having delusions of grandeur in a godly way. I'm think that as he gets all these aspects of The Four he will believe himself (maybe not their equal) able to do alone what they could only do as a group. Still a work in progress. [/sblock]
