5E Amethyst Psionic Class?

Been looking for a good 5E-based science fiction game and recently picked up 5E compatible Amethyst. If you've not checked it out, it's an awesome and beautiful piece of work, with a great setting and new, futuristic classes. Which brings me to the point. The Amethyst setting is fabulous: a world where magic and tech both exist. I'd need, though, to strip out their excellent science fiction classes (the Techan classes) and use them in a strictly science fiction setting, without the fantasy bits. The problem though is the while the Techan classes are all great, since Amethyst mixes fantasy and science fiction, it doesn't do much with the fantasy classes (except for a few minor tweaks). Therefore, there is no Techan class that uses Psionics, because that type of "magic" would, in the Amethyst setting, be covered by the standard 5E magic using classes. Now, you'd think I could just then import, say, a wizard into the science fiction part and call it a Psionics class, but the problem is the way the Techan classes work--they get points to use to implement class abilities that sort of mimic the class ability progression of 5E, but in a very different way. For example, a sniper Techan class can spend a sniper point to pull off a called shot, spend two points to add an effect to a shot, etc. The Techan class structures are so different from the 5E magic using class structures that such a substitution/re-skinning just won't work. Plus, no one would want to play a 5E wizard next to the Techan classes.I have tried and tried to deconstruct the Amethyst Techan classes, but without luck. I'm usually pretty good at reverse engineering, but this one has me stymied. Is anyone out there familiar with the Amethyst materials and might be able to suggest a start or give me some basic building blocks for putting together a Psionics Techan class for Amethyst? Thanks!!!

It's a bit of a work in progress, but I am building a psionic class for my setting based on the sorcerer (which handily uses a points system, and may well have been the inspiration behind the Amethyst classes). The link is here, I'm currently working my way through spells and assigning them to lists. I'd be happy to PM you my current workspace if you like?
