OOC: By that logic rather than a specific voice it would be a,Hodge podge of different voices. If I'm following you correctly.

Mim trains his handcrossbow on the man that appears, this seemed to convenient. Mim trys to get a good look inside now the door is open.

OOC: As far as I know, Mim is still at the edge of the clearing, which is a few hundred feet from the chapel, too far for a hand crossbow to do much good, or to see anything. Dariana and many of the NPC's are a hundred feet away, which gives a better vantage point. Don't know where everyone else is.

Oh, and with that roll, Mim doesn't see anything inside the door.

After the chicken comment Zilvar forces his head up and starts walking with the others trying to hide the tension he is feeling.

As the second pod opens Zivar's curiosity gets the better of him. He is now positive that these beautiful flowers are harmless, at least to walk among he thinks as he remembers on unfortunate event where another boy back home licked a mushroom on a dare...

Zivar sees the old man waving them in an things to himself. Maybe he can tell us more. Just stick with the group and everything should be ok.

"Hello there. Zivar says loud enough that the old man should be able to hear.
How are you today sir?"

Dariana: I have as much right to put myself at risk as you do to cower behind trees

As Dariana heads towards the Chapel, Mezzra sticks close by her side. The goliath, looking smugly at Raven, sets out with them. Raven rolls her eyes, but looks derisively at Quentin, still hiding behind the tree, and sets out towards the chapel as well.

"No, wait!" he runs after the elf pointing the trident toward the glowing flower. He intends to push the flower stalk away from them using trident tines as a tool without puncturing the plant

OOC:
I would just like to point out he ran after Dariana, exposing himself despite thinking they are in danger. I have no problem with you disliking him taking lead, but please don't use parts that didn't happen. tglassy, Dariana maybe thought Quentin hid behind the tree, but Jorrick and Raven certainly saw him run after her - I would appreciate if you would edit the derision part out.

Charwoman Gene, I apologize if Quentin comes out as too forceful, I play him as someone used to bark commands on the ship :) He will mellow out after couple of comments along the lines of "Quentin and his crew" - but I still plan on taking Inspiring Leader feat and Protector combat style at some point. Feel free to bash him over the head or disobey whatever he says - I'm not trying to tell you how to run your character. He (Quentin) does, but still looks for confirmation from all, he doesn't force anyone to anything

"I apologize if you feel I 'bark orders' at you. You were free to say something at any time and yet before now you choose to follow." genasi responds to the elf huntress from right behind her.
"If you want to run ahead, I will not stop you, but I distinctly remember all or most of you agreeing we should stick together and take things seriously. I'll be quiet for now, you can lead."

He nods toward the man in the door "Good day, sir."

As the group gets closer, assuming they get closer, the man smiles. "Hello!" he says, his demeanor warm and welcoming. "Thank Odin you're here, I was wondering if he would ever send anyone. I've been asking the Academy for some help for some time now, though no one ever comes. And now here you are, eleven of you! That's quite a turn out! Come in, come in! I have a warm stew ready, and there should be plenty for all."

Mim sticks to the back of the group his weapons still handy. As he awaits the mans answer he ponders why a man of advancing years is living in a church on a magical island, that you cant find unless you know where it is. Even stranger was he doesn't seem to know any of this.

The Academy/Woods
Late Fall/Afternoon
Round 0

Asherah gasped as the spear in her hands burst into flame around the tip. She stared in wonder at it and then made a few passes through the air in some of the basic practice moves she had learned. And the fire went out when she willed it!

“Amazing!” the tabaxi murmured.

After the others chose their weapons, the woman’s voice fills the room again with more instructions. Following the others to the door, Asherah looked out over the expanse of forest. “Beautiful,” she said, falling into step with the others.

“I agree, we need to stay together and work together, help each other out,” Asherah said. “I am Asherah P’Rurr, of the Tabaxi Suzerainty,” she introduced herself to the others, getting their introductions in return. “I can move quietly and am pretty good at noticing things. I also climbe well. I’m willing to scout ahead, up in the trees.” She picked up a strap from one of the tables inside, securing it to her spear so she could have it on her back and her hands free if she needed to climb.

Asherah followed Quentin at point as they moved into the forest. She hiked her sari skirts up around her waist and scampered up a tree. She had to take her slippers off, though. They would not survive a trek through a forest. They were made for the smooth, timbered halls of a palace. “I don’t suppose anyone has a change of clothes, though,” she asked. “I am going to ruin my clothes.”

They traveled for around an hour before reaching a clearing with strange purple pod flowers. The sky was growing overcast. “There might be a storm coming,” Asherah mused. There was an old stone chapel in the center of the clearing.

Korlin simply looked at Asherah. "What do you think? Try out the church? See if there's help? Or avoid it and try out luck on our own?"

“Oh, yes, let us check it out,” Asherah said with curiousity. “In any event, it might be a good place to rest a bit.” She tched as she pulled sap from her fur and examined her dress, now with a few tears in it.

The others started to mess with one of the pods and Asherah tilted her head. “Why is everyone so afraid?” she asked. “The woman said the forest was mostly safe.” She watched as the flowers opened, bathing the area in rainbow light. “By the goddess! It’s beautiful!” She slipped up next to Korlin as they watched, and then the chapel door opened to reveal an older man, who greets them warmly, inviting them for stew and seeming to have been expecting them, though not for reasons they would have expected!

“I am sorry, good sir,” Asherah said with a bow. “The Academy did not send us,” she admitted. “We are newly arrived ourselves. We have been accepted as students into the school and are on our way there now. But if something is troubling you, we would certainly want to do what we can and are more than willing to deliver your requests and concerns when we arrive.”

The elderly man's expression fell slightly at the Tabaxi's words. "Candidates? I ask for help and they send me candidates. After all my years of service...

"Well...you do look well armed, and well prepared. And you were chosen as candidates for the Academy, which means you are competent as well. You see, I was a divine researcher at the Academy a long, long time ago. I studied the various aspects of the different Pantheons, led by Odin, Zeus, Ra and The Dagda. About fifteen years ago, I retired from the school, but they allow me to continue my research on my own time, here on the island. There is a spring close by, you see, that courses with divine energies. I usually go once a month to collect some of the water and bring it back to study, but a few months ago, I began having strange things happen on my trips there. Strange lights, voices whispering. The trees themselves tried to restrain me, and when I did finally get to the spring, I found it had become like acid! There is something going on at the spring, and I need someone younger and stronger than myself to investigate it.

"I have a good report with the Divine College at the Academy. If you help me, I can give you each something that will all but guarantee your acceptance into that College. Of course, nothing can perfectly guarantee acceptance, but it would go a long way. Many of the greatest warriors, poets, and healers have studied at that College."
