Is it a calamity caused by magical forces running out of control? Pour your wealth into the finest arcane university, to fund their studies into the phenomenon and how to reverse it.

Are the gods just tired of this reality and preparing to dismantle it and build a new one? Bolster every major organised religion so that they can build ever-more expensive and elaborate rituals of propitiation to appease the gods and persuade them to deragnarok the world.

1 million GP can give you a LOT of influence, if you trickle it out to the right people.

Tithe 10% to a few churches with the stipulation that you get an audience with the highest level Cleric leaders, to convince them of the threat and gain their help?

Tithe even more to get them to cast all sorts of auguries, divinations, and to send messengers out to all the politicians and powerful mages of the land to coordinate a resistance?

Pay Dwarves to mine out an awesome fortified base?

Etcetera.

This is 'change the face of national politics' money.

Ok, to start off we are all level 7, Paladin (Strength) , Wizard (Aberration) Rouge (Swashbuckler) and an NPC Fighter/Barbarian/Rouge. Now we came across 1 million gold and secured it, and are at a cross road what to get with it. The Paladin wants to be a wall, but would like to pass saving through without much problems. The Wizard has the capabilities to raise skeletons, but would like to increase his survivability and combat control. The Rouge(Me) is a skill monkey, and i can stealth at a +10 without much issues which has caused alot of problems for creatures but recently found my soul being sold soooo would like to find more ways to become dangerous with added survivability. The NPC we would like to add some things but not a whole lot but would like the NPC to make the difference.

Now we also are going to buy a Sky Ship, and have accounted the costs for the ship, hiring the crew and monthly costs. But if anyone has any ideas that we may of not thought about in the Skyship area please let me know.

Spend some of the gold on scale mail armor and shields for the wizard's skeletons to get them up to AC 18, as well as longbows and (and he's a Necromancer) dual short swords. Also buy each skeleton at least one Net, and have them Help each other in two-skeleton teams to offset disadvantage. That gives you more survivability and control.

If you want even MORE survivability and control, spend more gold on Planar Binding spells. Having a bunch of elementals permanently on tap can really increase your recon abilities (Air and Earth Elementals) and your control capabilities (Water Elementals, and to an extent Fire Elementals although they mostly just destroy things).

Consider buying some exotic poisons as well.

All that should only cost maybe 100,000 gold pieces at most, so you still have plenty of gold with which to build your sky ship.

I can't remember a thread where I wanted to click "Laugh with this post" for such a high proportion of the comments.

But, also, a pet peeve.

Unless you're deliberately misspelling the word rogue as "rouge" (an all-too-common practice in our imaginative community), which my warped sense of humor will be perfectly okay with, but whether by mistake or on purpose, I will continue to struggle with images of your character as a small jar of red facial make-up that goes adventuring. A magical jar of intelligent face paint perhaps, if you will, that takes possession of any creature unfortunate enough to apply it to a cheek.

But (butt?) then, maybe I'm just being cheeky.

Only one course of action makes any sense in D&D.

Spend 750,000 gp creating a dungeon complex stuffed with traps, mazes, and monsters and a central vault that is as close to impregnable as you can make it. Make sure everyone knows about it.

Then spend the remaining 250,000 GP setting up a network of crystal balls and scrying mirrors in taverns and bars across the realm, and charge for the viewing rights so people can watch clueless adventurers invade your dungeon. You'll make a mint.

Then use the profits to hire someone much higher level than you to go deal with this "end of the world" thing.

Simple. Through an awesome end-of-the-world party!

You can start the party at that bar/pub/tavern (?) ... at the End of World, then finish it at that Restaurant at the End of the Universe.
