Forgive me @see but 8-2 = 6, not four. Not that I really mind as the college of whispers should be dead already (as should be all bards...) but in the name of fairness, edit, please.

No idea why folks consider Valor better than Swords as the martial bard. Swords is clearly better.

because Bard is a support class and Valor helps the team, whereas Swords is selfish and keeps inspiration for themselves

I do wish people wouldn't pigeonhole classes into certain roles. Especially when they are the wrong role. Traditionally, bards where the "can fill in wherever the group is lacking" class.

I've played great melee bards in 2nd and 3rd edition. A very fun character, and feels a lot more like classic bard types from myth and literature. Unfortunately, both Swords and Valour are weak fits for this archetype, especially compared to earlier editions, although swords was definitely the less bad.
