Fifty really was a bit much to start at. I agree that it was a good idea to start a bit higher than 20, or we'd have lost the artificer a long time ago, but 30 probably would have done it. 40, if you want to give the final round a doubling. Too late now, but maybe food for thought for next time! (What, like 8-10 years from now?).

This isn't the first "final round" Survivor thread that I've done. The previous one also started at 50 for all finalists, and there were no complaints...

I don't think the trouble is the score. I think this list itself is the problem: people are a lot more personally attached to certain character subclasses than they were to any of the Gods & Pantheons. From reading other comments, I get the impression that if someone's favorite option(s) didn't make it into the final round, they consider the contest already finished and just want to move on.

The goal is to have fun, create some lively discussion, talk about the pros and cons of certain options, all that. I certainly didn't want people making each other miserable.

Oh, I'm just philosophising on the format, based on comments. We are seven pages in and hardly anywhere! But don't take it as too strong of criticism. I've enjoyed the process so far. It's a fun little exercise, with really no real stakes. And that's a good thing!
