One day, I hope to actually play DnD.
1 - Sage Lightfoot Halfling Oath of ancients paladin + alchemist's tools + Longbow
2 - Soldier Hill Dwarf Thief Rogue + cartographer's tools + Warhammer
3 - Outlander Half-Elf College of Lore Bard + disguise kit + Halberd
4 - Acolyte Wood Elf Totem Warrior Barbarian + cook's utensils + Longsword
5 - Urchin Half-Orc Battle Master Fighter + herbalism kit + Spear

the top background/species/class combos were working fine enough but the top 5 weapons order really don't gel

The Battle Master and Spear work alright.

Well at least the dwarf gets the warhammer and the elf gets the longsword

as for Half-Elf bard with a long axe

As a polearm fan, I'm amazed any polearm went as long as it did. I still remember a conversation I had with a D&Der at a convention I was helping run.

Him: "... Anyway, I'm just saying, polearms aren't realistic for D&D. You're going down narrow corridors, who knows how many bends and whatnot, and you're carrying around a 10' long pole. It's so unrealistic it makes it hard to suspend disbelief."
Me: "I disagree, but okay. What character are you playing?"
Him: "Half-orc spiked chain wielder."
