5E - What do you predict for FIFTH edition?

It will be good again.

D&D is like the inverse of the Star Trek movie franchise -- only the odd-numbered ones are good.

All disconnected discrete human entities with A6 Clearance for Recreation and authorization to spend three cycles or more in downtime during non-core time will be permitted to gland "Dungeons and Dragons, 9th Edition" by Central Control.

Central Control will then create the game scenario, upload them into a crystal matrix computer and insert them into the cerebral coretex of the player, allowing him full access to all the various dungeons and/or dragons involved.

Those subjects engaged will of course be mind-wiped following the game session, as imaginative, fantasy concepts go against the precepts of Central Command and constitute thoughtcrime. Those subjects who successfully resist the mind-wipe, possessing Mutation A034, will be terminated.

OK. Fourth edition is a done deal. We've talked about it for so long, I feel that I've already filled my bookshelves and resold that material twice over (picking up v4.333 and v4.666 in the process).

So let's move on.

What can we expect in 5E?

It will be edible.........but taste like chicken

It'll be the first fully integrated virtual reality rpg.

This may be more true than we think. Assuming a lifespan of 8-10 years, 5th edition won´t come before 2015. With the speed at what computers -and specially computer gaming- advance, I won´t be surprised if 5th edition isn´t directly a computer program.

Probably not a fully integrated virtual reality, but still.

I recently was given some inside information from a very reliable industry source (who enjoys eating his food with a grain of salt, so take that as you will). He tells me that plans for 5th ed involve "a total lack of class." He wouldn't elaborate, and I was was out of quarters, so I can't share any more details than that.

He asked about 5th edition Dungeons and Dragons, not 5th edition Paranoia :)
