8th level PC's + Iron Golem = Need a plan

Illusions are the way to go.

I say you build a replica of the room the golem is guarding and lure it in with the illusion of a PC that just attacked it. :]

Only the antenna do rust damage. So the golem wouldn't get rusted by smacking rust monsters. And if surrounded by them, he'd just use his breath weapon, which does con damage, which will lower the rust save DC. But that probably won't be enough to save his skin.

Nope, metal weapons who hit a rust monster are instantly destroyed, no save.

My suggestion:

Have the party hide on the third or higher floor of the tower.

Lure the golem down to the first floor.

While he's on the first floor, illusion the second floor to look like the room that the golem guards.

Now the golem should walk back up one flight of stairs, and be back at his guard post, and you're free to explore the higher floors.

And if the GM says "no, that plan won't work" one more time, ask him "What it is that you've got written in the adventure that will work? It's pretty obvious you're not going to reward us for having any creative ideas, so what is it that you want us to do?". That might drive the message home.

8th level party, eh?

Some simple ideas...

1.) Haste, followed by Polymorph Self into a Rust Monster is perfectly legal by the RAW. With two touch attacks a round (at around +6 or +7) versus a touch AC of 8 and a saving throw DC 17 versus a save bonus of +5, all you need to do is survive two rounds.

2.) Cast Invisibility & Silence on the party member with the highest dexterity score and have them search out of armor. SR does not apply for either spell as the Golem isn't the target. With a +0 to it's Spot checks, there's pretty much no risk of being detected, provided your searcher has a dexterity bonus of +1 for Hiding. Assuming 1 minute or less to run full tilt up the stairs, your 8th level caster gives you 7 minutes to search, or 7 5'x5' squares, possibly with time left to leave the room before durations run out. Actually, you can simply cast both those spells on the floor just below the golem, so you'll definitely have time to look through the 7 squares before leaving again. Based on the levels of the Cleric & Wizard, you can repeat this stunt 8 times a day, using higher level spell slots (possibly more, depending on bonus spell slots the Cleric has; he's the limiting factor). So, 8 tries searching 7 squares each will search a total of 56 squares per day. That works out to be the entire floor of a 35' x40' room, or the entire floor, ceiling & walls of a 20'x20' room.

Arrows! Of course! I forgot about the one totally obvious answer: buy an arrow of construct slaying.

The thing only has a +6 Fort save, so it needs to roll a 14 or better or be instantly destroyed. Even if it makes the save (or your best archer misses the shot), you can leave the tower and go buy another. You can even take on another adventure in the meantime, to help you save up enough cash.

Wow, didn't think constructs could be "slain" but yup... wow. Now where ya gonna find one of those? Heh.

It sounds like your DM is being a bit of an ass to be honest:
"There is this monster and whatever you do it can counter.. ha I win !!!"

If this happened to my group we would probbly leave the tower, leave the county and go do something else. But that is just us
