All things considered...the technology of the NICU is pretty amazing these days. And the NICU at Georgetown Univ. Hosp. is like Emeril--it kicks it up a notch.

Actually, you have to within about 12 hours or so. And it really sucks. My wife has subsequently given birth to two others without medication, but the first one was by c-section. She still says the worst pain she ever felt was getting up 12 hours after the c-section and walking around the room, but the nurse told her that if she didn't, it would have been even worse in a few hours. Still not exactly sure why, but hey, it wasn't me, it was her!
